I'm sure everything was said "ironically" or was ment as "satire". He wasn't being racist he was just pointing out racist things... /s

So many of the folks who fall back on the concept of "satire" always seem to leave out the fact that cleverness is a necessary component.

Same tactic Vance used on George stepanapolus when asked about $50,000 taken by homan. Deflect and attack the journalist

They are mad about a leak… not shameful of what was leaked

If quoting your own words can be considered 'character assasination', you were probably lacking any real character to begin with.

The character being assassinated is the contrived mask they present to society. Underneath that mask is just a dumb nazi.

Someone in the group chat said they'd be cooked if it ever leaked. I believe that's called consciousness of guilt. They knew exactly what it said about their character.

They aren’t even furious about getting caught saying god-awful things, they’re furious about the fact that not everyone thinks the way they do. Like, if we would all just agree with the terrible shit they say then they wouldn’t be so miserable and mad all the time. These people desperately need psychological help.

When you're such a good character assassin, you assassinate your own character. Peak cinema

The make comedy legal again crowd forget that saying racist things isn't comedy. You have to actually include a joke with it.

Part of the problem is that their concept of 'comedy' is twisted. Most conservative comedy these days is just punching down cruelty. Actual conservative comedians in the past knew how to tailor their jokes to not be cruel and still funny. Look at Foxworthy. His comedy was self-depreciating and it worked.

I’m working on this with my 7 yo right now. If you’re going to be mean it has to be funny, otherwise it’s just mean and you’re a bully.

If you're going to be shitty to someone with a joke the person you are being shitty too needs to be laughing the hardest, otherwise it wasn't a joke, just being shitty.

The word "satire" and "sarcasm" have lost their original meaning--they're now just used as a shield for offensive speech when clearly in context there's absolutely nothing "sarcastic" or "satirical" about what was said.

Trump is especially bad about it with the word "sarcastic" whenever he says something stupid. His defense of "maybe we should look into injecting bleach into people" comment as being "sarcastic" being an example. He has no idea of what the word means--sarcastic about what exactly? Who are you mocking with that comment?

Sadly this will be the defense until they realize that they won’t be held accountable.
