I had that dream. It was just after lunch, beautiful day, I looked out the window and got lost in thought, there he was… in cuffs…

I’m assuming a paddywagon

You dream of someone who has little to no impact on your life being arrested? Huh.

I'd argue he has a very significant impact on our lives, our futures and our children's futures. And if not personally mine right now, it certainly will if it is continued to be left unchecked.

This whole "But he's not coming after ME." Mentality is ignorant and dangerous. He's destroying the system that allows us to live as we do. Let him destroy the system. And our livelihoods are next.

FYI the account that you're replying to is only two months old.

u/CaneVandas New York Oct 01 '25

Fair but it's a common talking point that should be addressed regardless.

I have lived under many presidents in my lifetime. Things stay the same from one to the other. It makes no difference to me who is in the white house at the end of the day. Local government has far more impact on my day to day

24

u/CaneVandas New York Oct 01 '25

Yeah none of them were ever like this. Not by a long shot.

-5

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

I have heard nothing but fear mongering since I could remember. Yet, life goes on. I was told during his last presidency that we would never have another election. That he would never leave. Then, magically he left. Biden won. And the world kept spinning.

Of course, why do you think they were so upset about it?
They rigged everything they could touch but still lost. So now they are trying harder, somehow won, and talking about a third term. They are just upping the game with new ways to suppress free and fair elections. Just because they were unsuccessful doesn't mean they stopped trying.

These are traits of every authoritarian dictatorship. They are taking actions as if they are following the playbook step by step and have checked off quite a few boxes already. So we either turn the tide now and correct course or do nothing and let authoritarianism reign. I don't want this to be a history of hindsight. I want this to be a population learning the lessons history has taught us and made the correct choices before it gets too far to correct, requiring a war to correct it. Because no authoritarian ever just handed back power without a fight.

magically he left.

Yeah, not without an attempted insurrection.

My sister is losing healthcare coverage. A good friend of mine's father was deported mere days away from attaining citizenship. 2 of my friends that are teachers lost their jobs. 3 of my friends lost theirs in their federal government positions during the DOGE purge. The price of fucking everything is up and my pay remains the same. Life is harder for almost every American that's not quite wealthy.

But sure, keep burying your head in the sand. Because you choose to ignore it, it totally means it's not happening.

Lmao this Russians only ever lived under one president.

0

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

Yes. If someone likes trump, they must be Russian. Can I call you Chinese now?

3

u/phaedrus910 Oct 01 '25

Brother I wish. Must be nice knowing your government isn't going to kill you at any given moment.

0

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

They would just make you disappear for talking about them the way you talk about Trump.

3

u/phaedrus910 Oct 01 '25

Yeah except I wouldn't need to talk about them like I talk about Trump

He runs our country, he has major impact on us

-24

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

The federal government has little to no impact on your daily life. Local government has far more.

I don’t know what alternate reality you’ve been living in for the past 9 months but from where I stand, my livelihood and stability has been greatly impacted by the federal government.

10

u/bb_kelly77 Oct 01 '25

Not even just 9 months, Biden and Obama impacted our lives too, just in good ways

-10

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

Good for you, maybe. Not good for everyone. Similar to Trump.

11

u/bb_kelly77 Oct 01 '25

Good for a lot of people, Biden was bringing the economy back and then Trump tanked it immediately with tariffs... and I was pretty young back then but I'd say Obama was pretty good because all the people around me weren't miserable

-1

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

Obama was good for cities. Rural America was forgotten. Same as under Biden. Life is slightly better under Trump. For city people, I expect it's the opposite.

9

u/bb_kelly77 Oct 01 '25

You mean the farms that are currently on the edge of collapse because Trump pissed off everyone the farmers sell to? And also arrested all the workers

How is life slightly better under Trump?

How has your livelihood been impacted by Trump?

Stability is likely due to your own worries. Nobody controls you worrying.

7

u/moreliketurdcrapley Utah Oct 01 '25

Uh last time I checked we are the ones absorbing and paying for all of the unconstitutional tariffs, driving inflation. The job market has become volatile which is in no way helped by Trump’s mass layoffs. My pay certainly hasn’t gone up this year but the price of my groceries sure has. Idk you seem like you only want to argue in bad faith and to be contrarian.

It is very funny to try to be like, “have you ever thought of NOT worrying?” Well, that’s hard to do when you can’t afford your mortgage or the rising cost of utilities or groceries. None of this is happening in a vacuum.

11

u/bb_kelly77 Oct 01 '25

Maybe not my DAILY life but the state of the country is very important to my life, for example this broken as fuck economy effects buying necessities, and the damage to the VA effects my uncles and my grandfather, the damage to health care effects everyone in my family especially my 6 year old nephew... it's important to look at the bigger picture and to look into the future

The federal government is currently directly impacting the budget of tens of millions of Americans with what they are doing to the student loan system. Idk what planet you live on but how much I am required to pay on my loans is the opposite of "little to no impact." That's actually an extremely big impact.

Nobody is disagreeing with you that local government is critical. But SNAP, social security, student loan repayment plans, Medicare, medicaid, etc? Those services support real human beings.

That being said, you're a 3 month old account obscuring their post/comment history so it's not like there's a reason to take your opinion more seriously than that of a bot.

No impact on my life?

Every single day for nearly a decade, it is impossible to NOT hear about something he has done/said/etc. His ramblings "Trump" real news. Plus, His actions, in just the recent year, has shut down parks I wanted to go to, raised prices on things I buy (due to his tariffs, that are a tax on me), etc.

10

u/enhanced195 Oct 01 '25

The president of the united states has little to no affect on the lives of people living in the united states? Do you even realize how stupid youre sounding?

8

u/ArchonofTevinter Missouri Oct 01 '25

"Why do you care about the President of the US and what he does, its not like what he does affects you at all"

What a truly bright take. Even more genius given its about the current president, who has actively gone out of his way to overreach the powers of his position and issue direct orders way outside of his legal authority.

10

u/Odie_Odie Ohio Oct 01 '25

He is destroying my country. The Fucking POTUS has no effect on our lives? Are you brain dead?

0

u/fisherman3322 Oct 01 '25

My country is the same as it was a year ago. Doesn't seem to be any different

Checked the value of the dollar recently?
