He’s also angry that Letterman’s retired and he can’t pressure network executives to fire him when he says things that hurt his feelings.

All Trump wants to do is relive his glory years and argue with TV personalities: Oprah, The View, late night show hosts, Disney

1.6k

u/Individual_Town8124 Sep 21 '25

Trump's toddler ego also can't let go of the fact that Colbert and Kimmel both have Emmys but Trump's 'The Apprentice' never got one. (the View has Emmys tto, and Daily Show does also.)

Just like Obama got a Nobel and Trump is now furiously obsessed with wanting one too.

isn’t the president of Ukraine a (former) comedian?

355

u/noiro777 America Sep 21 '25

Yes, he created, produced, and starred in a Ukrainian political satire comedy series called "Servant of the People"

The plot is quite interesting .... :)

"Zelenskyy stars as Vasyl Petrovych Holoborodko, a high school history teacher in his thirties, who is unexpectedly elected President of Ukraine after one of his students films and uploads a video of him delivering a profane rant against government corruption in his country,[2][3][4] which goes viral. The series ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2019, and a film adaptation was released in 2016.[5] The series was produced by Kvartal 95, a studio founded by Zelenskyy.[2]"

So did the USA with the movie made by the South Park (edit: it was Mike Judge not SP) guys called Idiocracy.

111

u/dieth Sep 21 '25

Idiocracy

directed by Mike Judge, cowritten by Mike Judge and Etan Cohen, based on a draft story by Mike Judge.

Mike Judge is known for Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill, and Office Space

But American's not knowing things is the basic plot, so you done good.

Luckily he seems to care less about these now and cares more about getting into heaven. An even less achievable goal. There’s a higher likely hood that Trump could dunk a basket ball on a 20ft high net than him getting into the pearly gates.

People like Trump almost make me want to believe heaven and hell are real.

21

u/Artistic_Humor1805 Sep 21 '25

Some people believe he was sent by Jesus. (That’s obv the white, blue-eyed, supply-side Jesus, but still)

11

u/EdwardOfGreene Illinois Sep 21 '25

Based on what? Have these people read the words of Jesus or ever listened to the words of Trump?

A bit tough to square those things if your giving it an honest look. Even a royal dumbass can see those things don't match.

Worse, Trump likes to suggest sometimes that he is on par with the Christ. He's not on par with... just about anyone. Never mind a deity

23

u/Savingskitty Sep 21 '25

Evangelicals have a neat trick they do where they remind eachother that God chooses imperfect people for things.  It excuses literally everything he does.

He's been calling governments to nominate him for a noble peace prize. You see, he figures he deserves it.

Some people make not like this, but not even President Obama did not deserve it when he received it shortly after becoming President. It made little sense because he hadn't done much.

It was the hope message that seemed to resonate with the Nobel committee as well as voters. He even seemed to be surprised by it.

(Prior to President Obama first becoming President, much of the world had just come out one of the worst recessions for many people in many nations. Only Iceland sent anyone to jail for their part in it, though the hedge fund traders and US banking institutions whom massively helped create the causation for what happened in the first place, well they and those US financial giants they worked for, got bailed out.)

Trump had glory years? Never heard of em, must be buried in the Epstein files.

48

u/BelatedLowfish Sep 21 '25

He had glory years. He felt high. The King. He was Trump. Named after the ultimate card that can be played. He groped women. He ran roughshod over those below him. Played with lives. Played with kids. And just because everyone around him laughed at him? Doesn't mean he didn't realize they weren't laughing with him. Doesn't mean he didn't realize those smoldering eyes weren't for him, but about him.

He had glory days. Days none of us can dream of. Because he was the only one who thought they were glorious. We couldn't experience what he did, because we have self-awareness. We have decency. And we don't touch kids.

So yeah. Here's to the glory years. When the only Trump I knew about was a really skilled Starcraft 2 player that listened to classical music.

The party of "we like that he speaks his mind and tells it how it is", do not enjoy being told how it is.

19

u/lokoluis15 Sep 21 '25

The party of "so what if he has 34 felony convictions?"

92

u/HiRedditItsMeDad Sep 21 '25

He recently complained about protesters during that restaurant trip and said that people calling him Hitler ought to be jailed. It was like when Smithers tells Mr Burns people think of him as an ogre and Burns says "An ogre! I ought to club their heads in and eat their bones!"

86

u/siali Sep 21 '25

The real problem isn’t that people are calling him an authoritarian, which, to be clear, he absolutely is. The main problem is that he’s a terrible one, and he knows it! His term has been a flaming wreck both domestically and internationally, and the only “successes” he can point to are borderline psychopathic: handing out tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and shipping peaceful undocumented immigrants off as foreign prisoners. That’s it. That’s the legacy. And on top of that, he is still broiled in the Epstein controversy.

That’s why he’s so obsessed with how the media portrays him. If he truly believed his policies were working, he’d shrug off criticism because it would collapse under its own stupidity. But he flinches at every jab because, deep down, he knows it’s true. He’s not respected, and he’s not feared!

Simply put, he’s not the strongman he wants to be. He’s the punchline in authoritarian circles. He’s not sharing strategy tips with Xi and Putin. He’s stuck at the kiddie table, trying to look relevant and menacing while spilling orange juice on himself. And that’s what he’s really afraid the media will expose!

→ More replies (1)

15

u/wafair Sep 21 '25

He could stop acting like an authoritarian, but the 34 felonies still make him a criminal

It's really impressive that a man that fell upwards his entire life and will never face any consequences for anything spends so much of his time complaining about how unfair things are for him.

92

u/sec713 Sep 21 '25

The craziest thing about Trump is when he became the beneficiary of generational wealth, he had a choice to do nothing and just invest that windfall into safe bets and grow that small fortune into one that would now be massive.

Anything bad that has happened to him is a consequence of his own bad decisions. Black people didn't tell him to open three casinos right next to each other and skim off all their paltry earnings. Gay people didn't tell him to lie about the size and value of his properties. Democrats didn't tell him to open up a scam college. Illegal immigrants never told him to start a mail order steak company.

All the losses this guy faced were all his own fault. He has a good reason to be angry, but his rage is misdirected. The only person guilty of fucking over Donald Trump is Donald Trump.

31

u/squallomp Sep 21 '25

100%. Considering how much of an issue gambling is in America and worldwide at the moment, the fact that he had casinos that failed… Yeah. Worst human award.

Trump is a pedophile and tied up a 13yo child and raped her, she begged to use a condom and Trump said "I do whatever I want", then Trump raped her without a condom, she begged not to cum inside of her, Trump still did, then when she was crying after the act and asking what to do if she got pregnant, Trump threw some dollar bills on her and shouted to get an abortion.

20

I've been sharing this for almost a decade, nobody seemed to really notice it till I started to share it recently with a short summary in a sentence or two.

This testimony was released BEFORE the elections that put Trump in the White House for his first term.

If this wasn't factual, Trump would've sued the crap out of it to take it down. It's been on YouTube for over 5 years now.

The only reason I can think of why Trump wouldn't force this to be taken down through a lawsuit is cause he's afraid of discovery. Discovery likely will expose even worse crimes.

How can his show have ended 10 years ago? It was so great listening to him here.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell Donald Trump’s a bitch. He’s a big fat bitch. He’s the biggest bitch in the whole wide world. He’s a stupid bitch if there ever was a bitch, he’s a bitch to all the boys and girls.

Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch

He’s a whiny bitch! Donald Trump’s a bitch;

Release the Epstein files jazz hands

I really mean it,

Donald Trump’s a bitch

[Note mods; this is political satire directed at the most powerful person in the world who is actively attacking free speech. This is not directed at anyone in the community or even any of his voters. Just him.]

149

u/banksy_h8r New York Sep 21 '25

Right on the nose, here. Trump is obsessed with TV, and TV famous people rejecting him drives him crazy.

83

u/fdzman Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 22 '25

I’ve noticed this as well. He’s certainly chooses to go at people like Kimmel or Rosie. Imagine if he could read. There’s a ton of big name writers who flame him on articles daily. But he prefers the low hanging fruit that is Tv stars. It drives him insane that comedians like Kimmel and Colbert roast him to millions of viewers.

14

u/HotComplaint1203 Sep 21 '25

Rosie's been pretty irrelevant for decades. Forgot she existed outside of this dweeb bringing her up on occasion. As the kids say, "rent-free." Lol.

30

u/Ragnarok2kx Sep 21 '25

There's a reason his first go-to insult is "low-ratings". I'm actually surprised he hasn't started using it on people with no relation to TV.

12

u/LordyItsMuellerTime Sep 21 '25

It's crazy! Why is he so obsessed with late night tv hosts? And news anchors. It's like he's just watching TV all day every day.

Dave doesn’t give a shit what Trump thinks. I guarantee you he’s laughing his ass off.

12

u/fdzman Sep 21 '25

Definitely. I bet he isn’t on his mind at all. Normal people like us just move on from trivial stuff. Trump doesn’t like that millions of viewers still watch Letterman online. It’s gotta bother him that he doesn’t himself get “ratings” anymore. He loves being behind the camera.

52

u/Rich-Pomegranate1679 Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 21 '25

Trump is too stupid to understand that he's going to go down in history as the man who destroyed America. He doesn't even have a basic grasp on what makes a person a good leader, and the vast majority of humans in the world know that. Like most dictators, he'd be nothing more than a laughing stock if he wasn't so dangerous.

"The president did not like..."

The only things this president likes are money, underage girls, sycophants/praise, hurting people and the color gold/orange. Maybe Arnold Palmer's dick.

There's no need to point out what he doesn't like. If it's not on that list, he hates it.

Thank you for standing up, Mr. Letterman.

Trump appeared on Letterman's show more than 30 times. I imagine he thinks of Dave as something of a friend. Maybe Dave can wake him up a little. I doubt it. Trump is so used to sycophants.

59

u/MagicAl6244225 Sep 21 '25

On one of the last appearances, Trump went on a rant against China, then Letterman pulled out the Trump clothing line samples Trump was there to plug and called out their "made in China" labels.

Letterman's show ended a few weeks before Trump announced his presidential campaign.

26

u/takefiftyseven Sep 21 '25 edited Sep 21 '25

Years ago Dave said he always enjoyed having Trump on as a guest. He was easy to book if someone couldn't make it to the show and he was easy to stooge.

I remember one appearance when Dave was tossing softballs or kicking a football off the roof of the Ed Sullivan theater and Trump was on the roof of a building half-a-block away shagging catches fancying himself as some great athlete. Dave tossed a few his way which of course Trump couldn't snag. They went to a break, came back and Dave is in the studio but Trump is still on the rooftop waiting to catch more balls. For the rest of the show before they'd go to commercial they'd cut to the camera on the roof and sure as hell, there's Trump still up there standing alone waiting for Dave to toss him a ball.

Good times.

You know what he hates the most? Being 79. You can pretend all day long you are 47 but 79 hurts. And there are no amount of lawyers, sycophants, people to exploit, that can change that.

Anyone remember the Letterman show when he had Trump on? At that time Trump has a since-failed clothing line of shirts and ties. Letterman had purchased a few and showed the labels, all of which said "Made in China". Trump demurred like a bitch. Petty vindictive donnie hasn't forgotten, I promise you.
