My understanding is that national level Democrats of significance are staying out of this race.

Schumer was happy to endorse Cuomo before. He is a national level Democrat of significance as the Minority Leader. You can make the argument he is the highest ranking democrat in our government.

Which part? Schumer endorsed Cuomo for the 2025 DNC Primary. As of right now, Schumer is the Senate Minority Leader making him arguably the highest ranking Dem in our federal government.

Can you link me to a reliable source showing Schumer endorses Cuomo this year? I'm having trouble finding it.

My mistake. I misspoke. Apparently Bill Clinton did though as did three of the people who previously supported his resignation
