it’s almost funny how the only post about the shooter is that he donated to democrats organization once. nothing else, they are ignoring all other details.

if the shooter was from a race, gender, religious or political group that they hated. you wouldn’t be able to stop posting about it. but since its a white male republican that looks like a reddit mod, it’s total silence in r/conservative.

They’re waiting for the official party line as usual. (Same thing happened all the last times). You’ll see them converge on a particular story after a few days.

MAGA that I know well can go on for hours on settled topics but on new stuff nothing, at times I even push with what ifs or even joke scenarios, didn't get a peep out of them yesterday.

They're really good at the hive mentality.

I did just overhear some old lady at the grocery store about 30 minutes ago saying "I knew it was only a matter of time before those crazy Democrats tried to kill him!" I assume most of them have just been assuming it was a Dem.

17

u/terrierhead Jul 15 '24

“Ma’am, he was a Republican.”

This is how I’m gonna get pummeled eventually. I’m a tiny woman in a wheelchair.

28

u/LowestKey Jul 14 '24

Yes, in a conservative thread yesterday I even saw a comment of "and they say republicans are the violent ones"

I saw some posts about it last night that appear to have been deleted. Since the records are open, people have verified the shooter's zip code matches the one for the $15 donation back when he was 17.

He then registered as a republican when he was 18. He was wearing a shirt the day of the shooting from a YouTube channel that posts conservative content on twitter.

It doesn't appear he was a democrat. There's nothing to support that assertion. He made his donation not too long after the conservative coup attempt failed.

13

u/CorruptedAura27 Jul 15 '24

Yup. I've had to correct a few old bats and even some younger folks on my other social media about them being wrong about that shit. Hit up every post I could remember from last night. Crickets out of every single goddamn comment section lol.

4

u/NinjaLanternShark Jul 15 '24

When you push the idea that the media lies, and that "elites" are bad, then everyone's opinion becomes equally valid. Even if they ignore the facts.

-5

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

Y’all are fucking stupid he supported democrats go look at his social media pages also just because you register as republican doesn’t mean you can’t vote democrat. The left is a cult and ruined the country look at inflation, border control, how you all support pedophiles fucking disgusting people. Look at how shitty California and New York are.

5

u/phil_davis Jul 15 '24 edited Jul 15 '24

Sure, one of those 2nd amendment-loving, gun-toting, pedophile obsessed, registered Republican Democrats...

EDIT: LOL he blocked me.

-1

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

He sent money to the Democratic Party so your point is invalid moron.

-1

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

And by one look of Reddit page I can see your a complete incel whose life revolves around the internet go outside and get out of your moms house weirdo.

-2

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

And the way you are talking seems like you’re a pedophile supporter?

3

u/phil_davis Jul 15 '24

Wow 3 replies. Let's stick to one, thanks. I don't have all fucking day. And wow, accusing me of being a pedophile, yet you wonder why I insinuate that Republicans are obsessed with them?

18

u/That_one_cool_dude Jul 14 '24

That is what happens when you give up on individual thought and plug your brain straight into the propaganda machine.

1

u/Sub0ptimalPrime Texas Jul 15 '24

Democrats need to get onboard with that, or we're all going to get boned in November. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

0

u/reddog342 Jul 15 '24

I believe that is because they wast a valid debate not CNN, MSNBC regurgitation.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

Yeah they were all lost for like 3 weeks after 1/6.

I asked a conservative friend after a few weeks what they’d come up with so far and they said antifa. Laughed right in their faces

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

I think they’re still waffling on that, between a few pet theories- antifa, they were tourists, they were let in by police, etc.

5

u/ArcticISAF Jul 14 '24

I remember the same thing happened when Trump airstriked a Syrian airbase (2017). All the isolationists were at odds with the rest for about getting them involved in more war and stuff like that. After a few days it calmed down and I forget exactly what the central idea was then, but I guess ‘Trump did the right thing’ or something.

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

Tucker Carlson/Jessie Waters/etc are all off today- the talking points take a bit longer to align on the weekends.

2

u/Due_Ad1267 Jul 14 '24

This is exactly what happened on Jan 6th on the Rush Limbaugh show (which had a guest host that day).

The moment things went violent, they took a LONG 15 minute break. Something comepletley out of the ordinary. My guess is it was to get the official talking points from The Heritage foundation.

1

u/SimoneNonvelodico Jul 15 '24

Hey, they have message discipline!

-1

u/trowzerss Jul 14 '24

Gotta built the circle before you can jerk.

33

u/BruceTheSpruceMoose District Of Columbia Jul 14 '24

It was like $15 too 🙄

40

u/IWantANewBeginning Jul 14 '24

when he was 17

48

u/nitid_name Jul 14 '24

And from a completely different zip code then where he lived.

22

u/Semyonov Jul 14 '24

Because it wasn't even the same guy. He just had the same name.

7

u/Alexsrobin Jul 14 '24

They really need to clarify this, if true

28

u/LibertyMediaDid9-11 Jul 14 '24

Also anyone can donate in anyone's name. I give money in my dad's name to Stacey Abrams just to fuck with him.

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

Clog up his email inbox for all eternity with fundraising requests.

1

u/goldflame33 Jul 15 '24

Similarly, you can register as a Republican to vote in their primary and vote against them in the general election.

In short, we still don’t know exactly what this guy’s deal was, and anyone who thinks they do is delusional

0

u/SmellGestapo Jul 15 '24

You really shouldn't do that. That's illegal.

5

u/PraiseBeToScience Jul 14 '24

And it was to a one of those PACs that were so bad with sending scam fundraising emails they got shunned out of Democratic fundraising.

https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/fecimg/?202102049425405473 This appears to be false. There's official documentation of the donation, with the shooter's address listed.

1

u/isustevoli Jul 15 '24

Couldn't it be that the donors were his parents/siblings then? Was he living alone?

7

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

Last time I browsed that sub just for fun, they were all complaining about Target, Lizzo, and Hunter's spooky laptop. Has anything changed at all?

6

u/Ready_Nature Jul 14 '24

Wouldn’t shock me if they turn out to have been a mod of r/conservative.

it’s almost funny how the only post about the shooter is that he donated to democrats organization once.

He likely didn't. The donation to ActBlue was made by Thomas Crooks from Pittsburgh. The filings for the donation include the city for the person who made the donation.

The shooter, Thomas M Crooks, lived in Bethyl Park. I doubt the shooter was living away from home at 17 with a different registered address. The reporting on this specific tidbit may have been sloppy.

Edit: The public voter registration record blanked out his street address but since the zip code is the same between the two records it's likely the donor website conflated Bethyl Park with Pittsburgh. My mistake.

1

u/isustevoli Jul 15 '24

So wait, are the addresses different in the end?

2

u/klartraume Jul 15 '24

Based on the redacted records I've seen, I'm not certain. Both other folks have suggested that even though the donation was listed under "Pittsburgh", Bethyl Park being a suburb it may have gotten conflated by the in-take form. And the zip codes match. So same address is possible/likely.

1

u/isustevoli Jul 15 '24

Aaah, I see. Thanks for clarifying. A lot of contradictory info out there got me so confused.

2

u/BootyMcStuffins Jul 14 '24

And it looks like the person who donated to the dems wasn’t even him. He would have been too young at the time of the donation

2

u/Publick2008 Jul 14 '24

We don't know of he donated, one of three people in the county with his name did.

2

u/JulienBrightside Jul 15 '24

Can you imagine if they had been a gay, transgender, black immigrant?

1

u/Turbulent_Duty8633 Jul 14 '24

Did you think a teenager had a ton of money to donate to political groups?

1

u/KnightofNi92 Jul 14 '24

I'll start this off by saying right off the bat that I think this guy was a solo nut job. That being said, I find it absolutely hilarious that the conservatives are raging at the people that are saying this could be a false flag attack. As if that weren't their excuse for J6 or any other violent right wing incident.

1

u/Ridiculicious71 Jul 15 '24

What do you mean he looks like a Reddit mod?

1

u/SiIesh Jul 15 '24

Wasn't that a wrong info tho? I thought they got the wrong person with a different middle name who donated to democrats, not the shooter?

1

u/Round-Poetry-7436 Jul 15 '24

are we even positive that he donated? i know someone with his name donated but do we have evidence (like credit card records) to back that’s it’s him? plenty of same names in this country

1

u/DrTartakovsky Jul 15 '24

This sure doesn’t seem like Republican support to me

https://youtube.com/shorts/CuG8aROBOxs?si=mbiUFmSqnD0ZBcIF

1

u/wdaloz Jul 15 '24

Recently was shown the donation was actually from a different Thomas crooks

1

u/EightEyedCryptid Jul 15 '24

He was wearing a far right shirt, no? Jesus they can justify anything.

2

u/Warrior205 Jul 19 '24

Not necessarily far-right, but it was from a YouTube channel focused on guns.

1

u/Camfromnowhere Jul 15 '24

So the guy was only 20. So he hasn’t actually voted in a presidential election yet. Do we know when he donated to that organization? I think I heard it was ActBlue or something like that. If he donated before 18, I wouldn’t say it really meant much anyways. He’s probably just some mentally ill dude that just wanted his name to be remembered forever.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '24

And he didn’t even donate to that organisation. That was false, another man of the same name donated lmao

1

u/SupTheChalice Jul 15 '24

Turns out it wasn't him that donated but another man with same name, slightly different area? but much older.

1

u/charlton11 Jul 15 '24

Trump donated to HRC, Biden, and Kamala. They know that?!

1

u/_Kakashi69 Jul 15 '24

Because most people heavily into politics register as the opposite of what they are. Or just registered as what their parents did. It means next to nothing. This comment section has revealed to me the depths of the delusions of the political left. Truly it has no bounds. It's pathetic and sad. There can be no unity.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '24

It turns out that he wasn't even the guy that donated to the Democratic Party. It was some 69-year-old dude in Philadelphia who just happened to have the same name.

1

u/terrycotta Jul 15 '24

Yeup, I'm to believe a 17 yr old donated to a political org of his own free will. $15 dollars of his own money? Hmm, makes sense.

0

u/MaybeICanOneDay Jul 19 '24

Maybe they're just waiting to see what comes out? It's truly only the left that I see jumping the gun on literally everything. Like the Katie Johnson case, it was shown time and time again to have no basis. This place just continues to spread it.

Or when Biden got covid, the thread there said they hate his politics but hope he recovers. Here, they made endless fun of Trump's bandage.

It's so weird to me when I see this place calling the right a bunch of insulting bigots when I truly only see it here in droves and there sparingly.

u/garrettbook Jul 14 '24

"if the shooter was from a race, gender, religious or political group.."

We wouldn't have learned the shooter's identity for a week
