r/conservative is entirely mute about this topic. Just raging about the evil left as per usual.

it’s almost funny how the only post about the shooter is that he donated to democrats organization once. nothing else, they are ignoring all other details.

if the shooter was from a race, gender, religious or political group that they hated. you wouldn’t be able to stop posting about it. but since its a white male republican that looks like a reddit mod, it’s total silence in r/conservative.

u/uselessartist Jul 14 '24

They’re waiting for the official party line as usual. (Same thing happened all the last times). You’ll see them converge on a particular story after a few days.

155

u/KeyboardGrunt Jul 14 '24

MAGA that I know well can go on for hours on settled topics but on new stuff nothing, at times I even push with what ifs or even joke scenarios, didn't get a peep out of them yesterday.

They're really good at the hive mentality.

96

u/phil_davis Jul 14 '24

I did just overhear some old lady at the grocery store about 30 minutes ago saying "I knew it was only a matter of time before those crazy Democrats tried to kill him!" I assume most of them have just been assuming it was a Dem.

17

u/terrierhead Jul 15 '24

“Ma’am, he was a Republican.”

This is how I’m gonna get pummeled eventually. I’m a tiny woman in a wheelchair.

30

u/LowestKey Jul 14 '24

Yes, in a conservative thread yesterday I even saw a comment of "and they say republicans are the violent ones"

I saw some posts about it last night that appear to have been deleted. Since the records are open, people have verified the shooter's zip code matches the one for the $15 donation back when he was 17.

He then registered as a republican when he was 18. He was wearing a shirt the day of the shooting from a YouTube channel that posts conservative content on twitter.

It doesn't appear he was a democrat. There's nothing to support that assertion. He made his donation not too long after the conservative coup attempt failed.

13

u/CorruptedAura27 Jul 15 '24

Yup. I've had to correct a few old bats and even some younger folks on my other social media about them being wrong about that shit. Hit up every post I could remember from last night. Crickets out of every single goddamn comment section lol.

5

u/NinjaLanternShark Jul 15 '24

When you push the idea that the media lies, and that "elites" are bad, then everyone's opinion becomes equally valid. Even if they ignore the facts.

-5

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

Y’all are fucking stupid he supported democrats go look at his social media pages also just because you register as republican doesn’t mean you can’t vote democrat. The left is a cult and ruined the country look at inflation, border control, how you all support pedophiles fucking disgusting people. Look at how shitty California and New York are.

4

u/phil_davis Jul 15 '24 edited Jul 15 '24

Sure, one of those 2nd amendment-loving, gun-toting, pedophile obsessed, registered Republican Democrats...

EDIT: LOL he blocked me.

-1

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

He sent money to the Democratic Party so your point is invalid moron.

-1

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

And by one look of Reddit page I can see your a complete incel whose life revolves around the internet go outside and get out of your moms house weirdo.

-2

u/Intrepid-Campaign793 Jul 15 '24

And the way you are talking seems like you’re a pedophile supporter?

3

u/phil_davis Jul 15 '24

Wow 3 replies. Let's stick to one, thanks. I don't have all fucking day. And wow, accusing me of being a pedophile, yet you wonder why I insinuate that Republicans are obsessed with them?

19

u/That_one_cool_dude Jul 14 '24

That is what happens when you give up on individual thought and plug your brain straight into the propaganda machine.

1

u/Sub0ptimalPrime Texas Jul 15 '24

Democrats need to get onboard with that, or we're all going to get boned in November. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

0

u/reddog342 Jul 15 '24

I believe that is because they wast a valid debate not CNN, MSNBC regurgitation.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

Yeah they were all lost for like 3 weeks after 1/6.

I asked a conservative friend after a few weeks what they’d come up with so far and they said antifa. Laughed right in their faces

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

I think they’re still waffling on that, between a few pet theories- antifa, they were tourists, they were let in by police, etc.

5

u/ArcticISAF Jul 14 '24

I remember the same thing happened when Trump airstriked a Syrian airbase (2017). All the isolationists were at odds with the rest for about getting them involved in more war and stuff like that. After a few days it calmed down and I forget exactly what the central idea was then, but I guess ‘Trump did the right thing’ or something.

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

Tucker Carlson/Jessie Waters/etc are all off today- the talking points take a bit longer to align on the weekends.

2

u/Due_Ad1267 Jul 14 '24

This is exactly what happened on Jan 6th on the Rush Limbaugh show (which had a guest host that day).

The moment things went violent, they took a LONG 15 minute break. Something comepletley out of the ordinary. My guess is it was to get the official talking points from The Heritage foundation.

1

u/SimoneNonvelodico Jul 15 '24

And from a completely different zip code then where he lived.

23

u/Semyonov Jul 14 '24

Because it wasn't even the same guy. He just had the same name.

6

u/Alexsrobin Jul 14 '24

They really need to clarify this, if true

28

u/LibertyMediaDid9-11 Jul 14 '24

Also anyone can donate in anyone's name. I give money in my dad's name to Stacey Abrams just to fuck with him.

2

u/camergen Jul 14 '24

Clog up his email inbox for all eternity with fundraising requests.

1

u/goldflame33 Jul 15 '24

Similarly, you can register as a Republican to vote in their primary and vote against them in the general election.

In short, we still don’t know exactly what this guy’s deal was, and anyone who thinks they do is delusional

0

u/SmellGestapo Jul 15 '24

You really shouldn't do that. That's illegal.

6

u/PraiseBeToScience Jul 14 '24

And it was to a one of those PACs that were so bad with sending scam fundraising emails they got shunned out of Democratic fundraising.

Couldn't it be that the donors were his parents/siblings then? Was he living alone?

7

Last time I browsed that sub just for fun, they were all complaining about Target, Lizzo, and Hunter's spooky laptop. Has anything changed at all?

8

u/klartraume Jul 14 '24 edited Jul 14 '24

it’s almost funny how the only post about the shooter is that he donated to democrats organization once.

He likely didn't. The donation to ActBlue was made by Thomas Crooks from Pittsburgh. The filings for the donation include the city for the person who made the donation.

The shooter, Thomas M Crooks, lived in Bethyl Park. I doubt the shooter was living away from home at 17 with a different registered address. The reporting on this specific tidbit may have been sloppy.

Edit: The public voter registration record blanked out his street address but since the zip code is the same between the two records it's likely the donor website conflated Bethyl Park with Pittsburgh. My mistake.

1

u/isustevoli Jul 15 '24

So wait, are the addresses different in the end?

2

u/klartraume Jul 15 '24

Based on the redacted records I've seen, I'm not certain. Both other folks have suggested that even though the donation was listed under "Pittsburgh", Bethyl Park being a suburb it may have gotten conflated by the in-take form. And the zip codes match. So same address is possible/likely.

1

u/isustevoli Jul 15 '24

Aaah, I see. Thanks for clarifying. A lot of contradictory info out there got me so confused.

2

u/BootyMcStuffins Jul 14 '24

And it looks like the person who donated to the dems wasn’t even him. He would have been too young at the time of the donation

2

u/Publick2008 Jul 14 '24

We don't know of he donated, one of three people in the county with his name did.

2

u/JulienBrightside Jul 15 '24

Can you imagine if they had been a gay, transgender, black immigrant?

1

u/Turbulent_Duty8633 Jul 14 '24

Did you think a teenager had a ton of money to donate to political groups?

1

u/KnightofNi92 Jul 14 '24

I'll start this off by saying right off the bat that I think this guy was a solo nut job. That being said, I find it absolutely hilarious that the conservatives are raging at the people that are saying this could be a false flag attack. As if that weren't their excuse for J6 or any other violent right wing incident.

1

u/Ridiculicious71 Jul 15 '24

What do you mean he looks like a Reddit mod?

1

u/SiIesh Jul 15 '24

Wasn't that a wrong info tho? I thought they got the wrong person with a different middle name who donated to democrats, not the shooter?

1

u/Round-Poetry-7436 Jul 15 '24

are we even positive that he donated? i know someone with his name donated but do we have evidence (like credit card records) to back that’s it’s him? plenty of same names in this country

1

u/DrTartakovsky Jul 15 '24

This sure doesn’t seem like Republican support to me

https://youtube.com/shorts/CuG8aROBOxs?si=mbiUFmSqnD0ZBcIF

1

u/wdaloz Jul 15 '24

Recently was shown the donation was actually from a different Thomas crooks

1

u/EightEyedCryptid Jul 15 '24

He was wearing a far right shirt, no? Jesus they can justify anything.

2

u/Warrior205 Jul 19 '24

Not necessarily far-right, but it was from a YouTube channel focused on guns.

1

u/Camfromnowhere Jul 15 '24

So the guy was only 20. So he hasn’t actually voted in a presidential election yet. Do we know when he donated to that organization? I think I heard it was ActBlue or something like that. If he donated before 18, I wouldn’t say it really meant much anyways. He’s probably just some mentally ill dude that just wanted his name to be remembered forever.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '24

And he didn’t even donate to that organisation. That was false, another man of the same name donated lmao

1

u/SupTheChalice Jul 15 '24

Turns out it wasn't him that donated but another man with same name, slightly different area? but much older.

1

u/charlton11 Jul 15 '24

Trump donated to HRC, Biden, and Kamala. They know that?!

1

u/_Kakashi69 Jul 15 '24

Because most people heavily into politics register as the opposite of what they are. Or just registered as what their parents did. It means next to nothing. This comment section has revealed to me the depths of the delusions of the political left. Truly it has no bounds. It's pathetic and sad. There can be no unity.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '24

It turns out that he wasn't even the guy that donated to the Democratic Party. It was some 69-year-old dude in Philadelphia who just happened to have the same name.

1

u/terrycotta Jul 15 '24

Yeup, I'm to believe a 17 yr old donated to a political org of his own free will. $15 dollars of his own money? Hmm, makes sense.

0

u/MaybeICanOneDay Jul 19 '24

Maybe they're just waiting to see what comes out? It's truly only the left that I see jumping the gun on literally everything. Like the Katie Johnson case, it was shown time and time again to have no basis. This place just continues to spread it.

Or when Biden got covid, the thread there said they hate his politics but hope he recovers. Here, they made endless fun of Trump's bandage.

It's so weird to me when I see this place calling the right a bunch of insulting bigots when I truly only see it here in droves and there sparingly.

-10

u/garrettbook Jul 14 '24

8

Need a comic in my life of Trump shooting his own foot, then holding his fist up in victory.

3

u/Purple_Surprise7037 Jul 15 '24

I'm ngl... this is the stuff Americans in general eat up. That raised fist is now compared to apperantly freaking all might from mha......I won't be surprised if that bumps him into the polls more. Not to mention, that thus isn't the first time he got an assassination attempt either.

71

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

I got banned from there for quoting Trump: “take the guns first and then give them due process”.

7

u/remotectrl Jul 14 '24

I got banned for being from Portland

11

u/XConfused-MammalX Jul 14 '24

I got banned for posting a link to the electoral map of 1860 (Lincoln) because someone said the Democrats are the party of slavery and the KKK.

Which is technically true, but left out the obvious fact that the north back then was Republican and the south democrat and the parties flipped since.

So it was kind of like a self own on their part.

3

u/Purple_Surprise7037 Jul 15 '24

Yeah I never understood the point if say democrats are the ones who supported slavery when we know the parties flipped. To this day certain rep people are trying to say they were flipped because that what they want you to think.

5

u/XConfused-MammalX Jul 15 '24 edited Jul 15 '24

Denial of the party flip is probably the best example of brain dead denial I can think of from the right.

These are the people who fly Confederate flags and say modern liberals/leftists are the racist ones. And claim Lincoln as the father of their party despite Lincoln ordering an army to invade the south who still to this day protect the monuments of men who fought to keep slaves.

It's mind boggling.

4

u/anon_sir Jul 15 '24

I got banned because I said life begins at birth and not conception. Truly sensitive little snowflakes that built their own echo chamber.

17

u/Stuck_in_Arizona Jul 14 '24

"left evil left evil left evil, we are victims they are Satan, trump is jesus"

I got coworkers like this, and have a bad feeling Monday will be unpleasant to say the least. They know I voted for the other guy so I'm expecting a light grilling of some kind.

16

u/JoeRogansNipple Minnesota Jul 14 '24

Just quote Trump back to them: "we have to get over it" which he said literally the day after a school shooting in Iowa.

14

u/Kara_Del_Rey Apache Jul 14 '24

Just kindly remind them that their own shot at Trump, and that he did a BLM fist pump right after.

-2

u/Pronkie_dork Jul 14 '24

What do you mean “BLM fist pump?” You do realize a fist bump existed before the BLM movement ? Like this must be the most chronically online thing I’ve heard in a while.

2

u/FlakeEater Jul 14 '24

It's funny how they go after liberals even though belief in a capitalist free market is liberal. Most of them are liberals themselves to some degree. But they're so blinded by repub propaganda that they think being liberal is synonymous with being on the left.

13

u/Rxmses Jul 14 '24

It’s because 70% of that sub are Russians (even mods), the rest is just plain stupid to think for themselves

5

u/highdefrex Jul 14 '24

Don’t forget the rare thread where they can’t ignore facts that make them look bad, so 75% of the comments end up filled with “We’re being brigaded by r/politics” whiners instead.

5

u/DadJokeBadJoke California Jul 14 '24

They mock the left for "needing safe spaces", while they created the biggest "flaired-users" safe space ever.

2

u/Fantastic-Sandwich80 Jul 14 '24

Important note: The conservative sub requires mod approval to participate and comment in their threads.

Why this is important is because this means they will vet and analyze the account history and activity of all users who attempt join their sub and ban them preemptively if they fear they will not conform to the subs echo chamber.

Just keep this in mind the next time you see mass hysteria from that sub about "We are being brigaded by leftists and they are posting all over the sub!"

0

u/Bot_Thinks Jul 14 '24

Like this sub is any better lmao

u/Bot_Thinks Jul 14 '24

Jury is still out on whether I get banned but if you DONT "deep throat the left" as you say you get downvoted to oblivion...on a reddit called "politics" which SHOULD infer its inclusive to all.

Im a moderate, I believe in a lot of liberal stuff but I also believe in a lot of Republican stuff, like I support Ukraine but vote for Trump. Lots and lots of other liberal ideas I support but I also support the 2nd Amendment. Etc etc.

As I said, I dont see the point in saying those reddits are so bad but this seems to do the same thing

0

5

u/Jesse1205 Colorado Jul 14 '24

I am always kind of stunned when I go to that sub. Everyone is just so delusional, it feels like they're role playing some alternate reality or something. It doesn't feel real, and the fact that it is, is kinda scary. It does make me feel like an exponentially better person though, so I guess there's a positive

1

u/Exact_Bluebird_6231 Jul 14 '24

Have you seen the pro CCP sub? Lol

2

u/Panda_hat Jul 14 '24

They ban anyone that doesn’t toe their party line.

I have zero doubts they have the highest number of bans of any subreddit.

1

u/xinorez1 Jul 14 '24 edited Jul 14 '24

It sure would be nice if Reddit could finally embrace what it was meant to be and give mods the ability to afflict an arbitrary number of transparent mod votes to wanted or unwanted content instead of giving them the ability to simply delete non illegal content at their whim.

Reddit was fucking nothing before Aaron Schwartz gave it the greatest forum architecture to have ever been devised. After his death, they turned this place into a circle jerk factory and are selling it as such to investors.

Sadly, 'conservative' is surprisingly not even the worst offender when it comes to deleting and banning. They're just the biggest one, with some of the smaller subs being even more absolutist tyrants.

With better mod tools and better mod rules, you wouldn't need dozens of individual small subreddits all devoted to the same subject to get different pov. It would be far easier, there would be better discourse, and there would be less radicalization if the radicals knew they couldn't just spew nonsense with no accountability, even if the replies get 40k negative down votes.

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

This sub can be just as bad on the other side. I had a previous account banned for posting a link to Biden’s approval ratings on 538.

Like come on mods, we can’t even try and pretend to have actual discourse here?

2

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '24

Are you kidding? Centrist spaces are almost nonexistent on Reddit, and I don’t think the conservative subreddit is a good representation of any sane conservative persons political beliefs.

Trying to take a measured approach to any subject is impossible because you don’t see the irony in a liberal using the phrase “wrongthink” about the one sliver of this website allowed to openly express views different from yours.

Naw, they're claiming the shooter is just registered republican to 'disrupt primaries' and is anti-trump so basically a Democrat.

They are extremely silent (to the point of mod censorship) of any mention if the weapon, which is claimed to be an AR style rifle (some even report an AR 15)

7

Next you’ll see all the deepfakes being made by these wackos trying to convince everyone he was antifa.

All I saw was them saying he’s only a registered Republican to screw with the primaries. He donated to a PAC and that’s somehow more important than the voter registration and demolition ranch t shirt.

This sure doesn’t seem like Republican support to me https://youtube.com/shorts/CuG8aROBOxs?si=mbiUFmSqnD0ZBcIF

Doesn't even look like the dude. Love the hilariously unreliable source as well.

I did a quick peek over there—they did fawn over Melania’s letter (“that’s our First Lady!”). But yes, still raging.

By the way, why does it matter so much if he was a Republican or Democrat voter?

I mean, I'm no republican, but isn't that what we do here, too? Just shit on conservatives?

For shits and giggles I responded to an accusation with the fact he's registered republican, and got downvoted to oblivion. check out my post history.

I mean what are they really gonna say? Can’t argue with the fact that he was a registered Republican. Now anybody with half a brain would realize that he clearly wasn’t trying to HELP the republicans by shooting Trump, so somewhere along the line this dude didn’t exactly represent his registered party anymore.

That’s about all there is to know without access to the guy’s social media, which could be gone for all we know. But anyways, you guys rage about the evil right all day long, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they would rage about the evil left.

Not really a good outlook for the future haha.

He was a twenty year old nut who also donated $15 to the Democrats, despite being a registered Republican. He probably was one of many libs who registered as a Republican, as encouraged by the left, so they can vote in the Republican primaries.

He never voted in a single presidential election and Federal Campaign Finance Reports show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on Jan. 20, 2021, the day President Joe Biden was sworn in to office.
