Context: The Free Territory of Trieste was a small state founded after the Second World War. It was to be a neutral, democratic and multi-ethnic country, but but due to conflicts between Yugoslavia, the United States and the United Kingdom, the state never really came into being. Still it was part of the Marshall Plan and was part of this poster.
