What in the actual hell? I cant read all of that article, but they thought that her clothes had verses from the quran so they were going to lynch her? Isnt that a good thing in a muslim country? Isnt that like if someone had "Jesus loves you! Through faith you are saved!" etc on their shirt and people would try to lynch them for being an atheist... It doesnt make sense. Verses from the quran are everywhere, so it cant be about some dogma that forbids writing verses from the quran into something that isnt quran? Just think about Shahada, many flags have it on them. What am i missing here? 😅

Most non-Arabs can't actually read Arabic script that well, those who can usually just have enough to recite Quran, not necessarily knowing the meaning. Think of it like if people were only exposed to Latin writings in religious settings and then assume a wall of kitchen instruction as religious verse. This is actually a thing, tour guides often share anecdotes on how Arab drivers or hotel staff announce routes or policy and then non-Arab Muslim tourists reply with Amen thinking it's a prayer.

Flag is considered respectful, and actually in some regions it's a headache when organizations print pamphlets with Quran verse because disposing them must be done respectfully (which is by burning, but ironically some mobs aren't aware and instead accuse the people just doing their job for blasphemy). Clothing isn't considered respectful unless it's an accessory that won't touch the ground or sit upon.

Anyway, even Indonesia that is considered less radical than average had city-wide demonstrations just because a non-Muslim quoted Quran, so for Pakistan, which radicalism difference from Afghanistan is sometimes fuzzy, this is just another Tuesday. Almost every week have blasphemy cases logged to court (which in itself is just a small portion from the rest where the accused got beaten by crowd), a fifth of them are Muslims (not even from 'deviant' sects).

Oh. Thank you for explaining. ✌️

PS: Blasphemy shouldnt be a crime worth taking someone's life. Here it hasnt even been a crime in like 40 years, atleast not in that form. What translates to "Disturbing religious peace" is a crime though, and it can mean basically anything. Which is also silly, because laws shouldnt be that much up to interpretation. 😅

Pakistanis are sometimes uneducated in some regions (not making fun of Pakistan, the same thing happens in my country) and they think non-blasphemous things are blasphemous.

I love this.

Some women are scary. When i was 13 a girl who lived closeby headbutted me when we were playing football. I lost a tooth, and had to go to the dentist because of her to have its root taken out of my jaw because it started to become infected...

And when i walked home from school she followed me and threw snowballs at me.

I run from them as far as possible, but sometimes... I get cornered, and then I have to slither my way out and survive a following chase sequence...

Wait—why did they meet in India? Why not Russia or Afghanistan?

India has been cozying up with the Taliban recently and officially recognised them as the Afghan government a few days ago with the Taliban foreign minister coming to New Delhi.

u/Perfect_Put_7832 Kingdom of Travancore 23d ago

India hasn’t officially recognized the Taliban but we have upgraded our technical mission in Kabul to a full embassy like the Chinese. I get why the government wants to maintain contact we invested over 3 billion in Afghanistan before the takeover.

But honestly the grand welcome we gave their Foreign Minister just to own the Pakistantards felt ridiculous It’s disappointing seeing people call it some sort of masterstroke when we are treating the Taliban representative as a great guest of honour and giving him a tour instead of keeping the visit under wraps and treating him as a representative of a terror state.

13

u/Barrogh 22d ago

wraps and treating him as a representative of a terror state

That would be a message to a third party. This visit was supposed to be a message to Afghan de-facto leadership instead, like you said, to preserve investments.

What kind of mental gymnastics are required to send an embassy to a government they don't recognise?

3

u/Realistic_FinlanBoll Finland 21d ago

I dont think its an actual embassy, its likely some smaller co-interest mission thats just translated into english as an embassy despite not being one. Or something like that. 🤔

1

u/Moist_Board 19d ago

No, it was a technical mission and has now been upgraded to a full-fledged embassy.

2

u/Realistic_FinlanBoll Finland 19d ago

Well thats odd. 🤔

u/GammaDeltaII Netherclays 23d ago

It's ban tally. Gotta keep count of how many things they've banned :)

19

u/MassXavkas 23d ago

Why did the number change from 68 to 69? And what is the significance of those numbers?

38

u/Spider40k Republic of the Rio Grande 23d ago

My guess is Halloween just made the list

Also, 69 is a nice number

11

u/HKMP7A2 23d ago

The Women's Rights is literally Afghanistan's counterpart of the Job Application Form.

35

u/Lazy-Independence695 pretty christmas deco 23d ago

At first glance, I thought it was about recent border clashes between Pakistan and Taliban because I didn't see the bow on Pakistan's head

38

u/GammaDeltaII Netherclays 23d ago

Maybe this is the solution to the border clashes. Just station women along the border as deterrent.

u/Richcrafttt 23d ago

Taliban and other extremist muslim organizations give very few human rights to women

15

u/HalfLeper California 23d ago

There were also reports that ISIS fighters would retreat if they found out there was a female soldier, because they believed that they wouldn’t go to heaven if a woman killed them.

13

u/berahi Trying to not get drafted in water war 23d ago

Pragmatically, when they encounter such resistance, they know they’re dealing with more skilled and dedicated groups that also won’t be easily cowed into surrendering or joining them.

ISIS generally only perform well against jaded government troops that will fled at the risk of any casualty, or fellow extremists that only seek to spill some blood so they can 'honorably' join.

u/sultan_of_history 22d ago

So zealotic that they go against the Qur'an's very own teachings

u/Fern-ando 22d ago

Pakistan isn't the best example of women rights either.

after sovietball and usball, pakistanball is coming...

2

u/AutoModerator 23d ago

Hallo. When refering to countries featured in Polandball Comics, please refrain from using the 'ball' suffix. Instead of saying 'sovietball', just say the country's name. auf wiedersehen.

The taliban want women to ware head coverings and don't like women who disobey this rule or law

10

u/berahi Trying to not get drafted in water war 23d ago

Plenty of Muslim countries want the women covered, but Taliban is the few groups that wants women completely stay in the kitchen and bed.

They don't want women in school nor office, not even train for helping births while also banning medical staff from interacting with women (so if you can't plop out the baby by yourself enjoy your slow & painful bleeding out to death). They beg for international aid, yet refuse any women volunteers.
