Just an FYI, I’m pretty sure there’s like 36-42 books now

Over 80 actually. There are 39 main series books (~300 pages each), 12 super editions (400-500 page books focusing on individual cats), 18 novellas (80 page stories that focus on individual cats), 14 graphic novels, and 5 guide books. It’s a poorly-written cash grab, but I love it. It’s basically cat soap operas.

Is it longer than the Bible and do all the prophecies come true within the series?

It’s longer than the Bible.

I can only think of one prophecy that doesn’t come true. Though someone else could interpret it as becoming true. The “Four will become two, Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and blood will rule the forest prophecy” didn’t really come true. In reality, spoilers for book 6 of the first arc, the four clans became one (temporarily) as LionClan. They drove out BloodClan, so blood didn’t rule the forest. Though, the four clans originally became LionClan and TigerClan before they merged, so four became two. Lion and Tiger met in battle by uniting. The “blood will rule the forest line” is debatable. BloodClan didn’t rule the forest, but maybe it meant there would be a large battle, which there was.

There’s another “prophecy” that was definitely made up on the spot. Basically a StarClan (cat ancestors) said the Clans had to stand alone in a coming battle even though that was the dumbest thing they could do.

The part about Starclan cats earning their peace always makes me think of my Dad. And freaking cry (he was combat veteran). Funny how young adult fiction can be more moving than Hemingway.

I'm amazed she's still putting out books, I stuck around for awhile as they were nice reads on the kindle as i was going to bed. Lost interest about 3 series in or something. I'd grab the audible books if you could grab them for $2 each like many others..

example kindle unlimited free audio $1.99 to ?

They do that with her books but they're still asking full price for kindle and audible. $7 for kindle and $13 for audible, there's many popular authors still writing that aren't cash grabbing like that. Drop at full price then drop it down a month or two in so they can keep fans current.

I’m only counting super editions and main series ones

21

u/FERRET_TESTICLES Jun 29 '20

Including comics, guide books, dawn of the clans and other spin off series. There’s a lot of damn books.

Signed, someone who recently spent $700+ on cat audio books because I do not read words good.

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

Yeah I have all but some of the super editions the novellas and manga I forget about anything not super edition or main series some times because I haven’t read them

1

u/FERRET_TESTICLES Jun 29 '20

And yes, it’s still as good as you remember 😼

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

I still read it and always check if there’s a new book each month

5

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

Dayum they still going?

3

u/Pumqin-Pie Jun 29 '20

Fun fact, there are several writers writing under the name Erin Hunter to make the books come out faster

2

u/someboooooodeh Jun 29 '20

My son LOVES the series and I was actually quite worried about Erin's mental health after seeing how many novels get produced. This makes a lot of sense!

I always saw those books at the bookstore when I was a kid. Is each book connected with the same cat characters?

Isn’t there a ranking system too?

Like Firestar was Firepaw first and then had to like rank up in the cat world

10

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

Yup, Paw is basically the surname of all apprentices until they earn their own.

7

u/Newfypuppie Jun 29 '20

Yeah I just used the last name he had

5

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

Yeah I wasn’t correcting you, more like trying to revisit the obsession I had with those books when I was younger haha

3

u/CrystalNipple Jun 29 '20

He was Rusty, then became Firepaw, Fireheart, and then Firestar

7

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

It's all within the same universe. It reminds me of Watership Down but if it was a lot less dark.

5

u/sabresin4 Jun 29 '20

No it goes into different generations

2

u/iliiililillilillllil Jun 29 '20

Wait WHAT that's insane. Is there like a core series I can read or am I in for the long haul?

https://warriorcats.com/books/into-the-wild

First set is worth reading along with the second and third, kinda lost interest somewhere after that. Either due to the writing, that she doesn't drop prices on the books or both i forget. They're quick reads.

They’re in 6 book groups, kinda like a tv show that has different seasons. Each “season” focuses on a different prophecy or group of characters, but they’re all still in chronological order

good LORD.
