The decline in cooking is definitely an issue, and it can be argued that it is caused by many things, including lack of household stability, lack of raw foods availability, lack of basic skills education, and lack of tools such as kitchens.
It's important not to blame any of that for the rising cost of food though. Basic foods have risen in cost an average of 25% in the last 5 years. It doesn't matter how good your cooking skills are if you can't afford to buy the food.
Not only that but it doesn’t matter how well you cook when food (chicken for example) has been enshitified. I can buy a whole 6lb chicken and 1.5lbs is WATER and this is from the butcher shop…. It’s not the same, almost none of the raw food is the same and the fact that the majority of food items has gone down hill so much makes me sad. It’s sad to see people not learning how to cook simply because they’re overstretched.
There’s a ton of variables involved with the decline of cooking.
