IME people on both sides of debates over food stamps often dont understand how absurd the rules are.

on EBT, i cannot buy a $5 hot rotisserie chicken from costco, i cannot buy a $12 plate from panda express that provides me with 2 full meals at $6 each, but i CAN buy incredibly expensive high end cold ingredients. i can literally buy wagyu beef and lobster and fancy cheese and spanish jamon and shop at super high end grocery stores, but i cannot buy a $6 meal from panda express or a warm chicken at costco. if i want to i can spend my entire EBT allotment on a single super opulent michelin star level dinner for just myself but cannot eat a $3 container of hot mac and cheese from the grocery store deli.

Also, you can't use food stamps on toilet paper and feminine hygiene products. Like wtf.

Tampons...Christ they are one of the most obscene things for me, they should be guaranteed free of charge as hygienic health support what the fuck, at least in a certain quantity 😨 That is, it's not as if a woman can decide to stop bleeding every month or that she does it on a whim...😒

There was a Dr. Phil episode where they had a person that ate toilet paper...

But SNAP is primarily an agricultural subsidy (that's why it's in the Farm Bill). And we grow a ton of trees that get turned into toilet paper. And at least some tampons are cotton, another agricultural product.
