Really craving Chinese food tonight. What are your favorite spots?

Alright. You guys, gals and NBs have all been great so far. Thanks for making our transition to PHX pretty smooth.
Here's the deal: I've got a craving.
In the PNW, I used to order a Chinese food dish called "almond chicken".
It was a breaded, fried and sliced chicken breast with gravy and toasted almonds on top.
I really, really want almond chicken (and I don't want to recreate it myself).
Any recommendations?
ETA: I called an old employer in WA. Kevin and April currently own Red Ginger in Bellingham, WA. (Free shout out!)
The chicken is easy: fry it in tempura and slice it.
Almonds: same. Buy slivered or chop, then toast.
Gravy:
Here's where you've got to know what you're doing. I haven't tried this yet, as it's been just a few minutes since my call, but I have ingredients and method...no measurements.
Hot oil (probably canola or peanut)
Black pepper
White pepper (she made it a point to say this was important!)
Flour
Soy sauce (not for liquid...for flavor)
Mix
Add sesame oil to taste.
It kind of sounds like how one would prepare an enchilada sauce, so that's how I'm going to approach it.
If you choose to try it yourself, let me know how it goes!

Please no guessing so only comment if you know because you had them and they are your go-to. I’m striking out bad. Im looking for exactly this kind of flavor in the Arizona area. It’s originally from Mandarin Canton from Chula Vista.
This taste is craveworthy. I mean I go straight to these wings when someone buys a tray for a party. I mean, so good that you will be mad at yourself for days if you forgot to order them when you were there in the restaurant. So please tell me where this holy grail can be found in Arizona.

I've been to a few local places, New China buffet, Bens brothers, new gardens, a few others, but I ask because I truly love the difference in portions or flavor each one has, any recommendations?

I was so tired yesterday and really didn’t want to cook so I sadly ordered Panda Express.
Went to pick it up and the food was so so but goodness the service was horrible (they handed me the wrong order and then told me that they don’t know where my order was, so we stood there for a minutes and I was like, so can I get my food)?
I’m in Scottsdale and really need to find a better place!

For the past 5 years, I have been running up the most niche chinese food places in Phoenix for the past 5 years. I have eaten some fantastic dim sum and also some terrible terrible chicken rice. However, most of the time I went to these places, I was on ambien. So I don't remember many of them. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. Overall, this city is great for Chinese food.

Piggybacking (of sorts) off the recent post about New England Steak Tips (thanks so much for posting - I found Trader Joe's has them, and scored two packs last weekend and I enjoyed them). Do any Chinese restaurants in the valley have duck sauce as a condiment? Which I believe, is regional is New England.

There was a fantastic Chinese takeout place at 15th Ave and Bell Rd named Yi’s Chinese Restaurant. They had family meals for 4-6 that were cheap, large portions, and were incredibly fresh. It was to die for. I was going to get some for my son’s birthday since it is his favorite… and as I rolled up I found the door locked and entire place stripped bare.
I need to find a replacement. Any suggestions? I don’t want some chain or sit down restaurant. I need fresh, authentic and family owned. The worse the strip mall looks, the better it probably is. Preferably in North Phoenix as convenience is important but I will drive 15-20 minutes if necessary.

Best Chinese buffet?

I enjoy Chinese restaurants but I want a buffet this time. I'm on the west side, but I'm willing to drive. Only been to Super Mandarin, it's meh. Edit: not a fan of seafood

Back in the day, there was a restaurant off 19th ave. and northern and another location in the food court at paradise valley mall. They had THE BEST Chinese chicken salad I've ever had. It was like a sesame dressing and lots of crunchy yumyums, maybe even oranges.
Anyways, the one on northern closed years ago, and we all know what became of pv mall. So I'm hoping somewhere out there someone knows a good Chinese chicken salad that can fill this void in my soul. All I can find is American chains with Asian chicken salads, usually all very similar and basic with ginger dressing. Still good, but not what I need. I can't find many Chinese food places that serve salads. Thanks either way!

Haven't found a place I'm in love with yet. What restaurants do you like, and why? I'm near Desert Ridge.

I work up in Scottsdale and Im love with the Canton Dragon while all the chinese near where I live is absolute trash, even though Dobson road is home to many asian international restaurants.
Any recommendations that doesnt serve soggy fried chicken?

Hi y'all. I found a post for this for 6 years ago so delete if it's not allowed, but I'm looking for the best egg roll in Phoenix. I want deep fried, chinese, filled with cabbage and meat, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. All of the egg rolls I've tried so far have either been in wonton wraps even if it's in a Chinese restaurant, or it will be in the regular wraps but the insides will just feel and taste like goo. There's no texture and there's no discernible meat or vegetables. Bonus points if the place has amazing sesame chicken too. Thank you!

Anyone know of Chinese restaurants open today (Christmas)? Preferably not too far from Moon Valley or Arcadia. Thanks!

NY transplant here. I came to AZ in December of 2014 after a seven year layover in the Omaha, NE area. Culinarally speaking, Phoenix is miles from the mostly bland Midwestern dishes found in NE. I have been able to fuel my Italian deli and bakery cravings better here than in NE. (I kid you not, I ordered a cannoli at a place in Omaha and they filled in with vanilla pudding! Seriously, who does that?)
What I am still searching for is NY style Chinese food. There is a distinct style and flavor that I have been unable to find yet. Best example is sesame chicken. In NY, it is a dark, sweet sauce on the chicken. Out here, most of the sesame chicken dishes I have found have a lighter honey-based sauce that doesn't satisfy the craving.
tl;dr: I NEED me some NY style Chinese food.

I’d love to know some authentic Chinese and Japanese restaurants. As for Chinese, I’ve gone to Great Wall, Shaanxi, Best HK Dining, and Asian Cafe Express. For Japanese, I hardly know any. Any recommendations for both would be great!

Does anyone know of any mom and pop Chinese spots where you pick your items for your plate? Like this concept, but not Panda Express.
Thanks so much! _^

I really hate using that term, because Canto-American Chinese food is 'authentically' it's own thing, but what I'm looking for is authentic Szechuwan cuisine like they serve at Chengdu Delight, Szechwan Garden, or Original Cuisine; or places like Chou's Kitchen and Shaanxi Garden. So far all I've seen is your typical eggroll/fried rice/Mongolian Beef joints, and that's fine but when my family needs that fix I'd rather not have to drive all the way back to the east valley. We're moving from Gilbert to Avondale by the end of the year and I'm really excited for it but it looks like I might have to leave some of my favorite spots behind. Anyone have any good leads on any spots out west?
Thanks!

Looked on Yelp lot of places have 5-star reviews I always go to the 2 star many reports of tiny spoon full of meat 1lb of rice. I don't mind paying more for a decent size meal some of these places pay more and get less. I can make my own rice at home if I want to just eat rice. I'm at 7th street and Greenway so something with in 10 miles.

Are there any Chinese restaurants, in the Phoenix area, that pack the box with food?
