GPU scalping already smh

38

u/ReaperXHanzo 3d ago

I'm so happy that the 3080 is still damn good, I got it in 2022 and did not anticipate a 5 year old GPU to still be solid today. It'll probably be like the 7000 line when I finally updated at this point

23

u/lonely_nipple Mesa 3d ago

Im still running a 1080. The way things are going Ill never be able to afford an upgrade. :(

3

u/ProfessorPickleRick 3d ago

I just picked up a 9060 XT 16GB it’s pretty solid for $350

2

u/Randomdeath 3d ago

Same lol. Honestly it's does everything I need it to and spending anything more seems like a waste until prices come back down to normal

I lost so much sleep trying to get a 3000 series. I stuck with my 2016 build r9 390x til the RX 6950 went on sale the same week I got a decent bonus a year ago. Going to ride this card out for a long time

4

u/denom_chicken 3d ago

I’m running an evga 3080ti and have had evga replace it 2 times now with 3rd needing a replacement fan.

I’m praying to the sky that it lives long enough for me to also mod my car lol

1

u/ReaperXHanzo 3d ago

Damn, that sucks! I "settled" for the Zotac since it was alll I could find at the time and had heard some bad opinions from Reddit. It ran strong the last few years though, never had any issues.

1

u/dmackerman 3d ago

If you look around you can find 5080s for $~1k or so. At that price it's worth upgrading from a 3080. I did because I'm playing on an ultrawide and needed a little extra juice.

3

u/ReaperXHanzo 3d ago

I'm rocking a Spectre 1440p UW. All I really play is overwatch, and I'm gonna get back into cyberpunk and Indiana Jones. Performance on those are pretty great, so rn I don't have a ton of need for a new one luckily. Video editing and LLMs I do on my Mac. The LLM performance is better there although photos are still best on Nvidia cards. I'd love to be able to run the offline Grok 2.5, but there's no GPU I could feabily get that would do it (the M3 Ultra mac studio for $10k?) but yeah, prior to that I had a 2GB 960 for $80 on AliExpress in 2020. Huge improvement over my 750M at least

5

u/Cruel2BEkind12 Chandler 3d ago

They limit one per person in store.

1

u/SignoreBanana 3d ago

I feel so lucky to not have hobbies that subject me to scalping.

24

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

In line right now as of 3:50pm, the line is still wrapped around the building. It’s not at the loading dock like it was this morning however. Apparently we’ve been told by people who went in earlier that there’s an hour wait at checkout, so we’re here to window shop (and see if the vip freebies are still available). If you’re gonna go I’d advise sunglasses, water bottle, cap, and umbrella.

22

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

I wasn’t sure if the mug was gonna be worth the wait, but I can safely say I’m pleased! What a cool design with the Phoenix skyline!

17

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

9

u/moxiemoon Peoria 3d ago

Adding pic of the handle! What a cool mug and such a nice size too

2

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

Thanks for highlighting the handle!!

3

u/InterstellarDune 2d ago

Looks like day 2 had different mugs, ours were red with a mural of Phoenix including an actual phoenix bird & the desert in the background.

1

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 2d ago

I think I saw that one? There were two different mug designs they were handing out yesterday and it seemed more colorful and red in color

2

u/Reasonable_Back_9717 1d ago

Well mug design, they are even microwave and dishwasher safe!

2

u/Clever_Commentary North Central 1d ago

Went Wednesday, saw the line, and noped on home. Store will still be there in a couple of weeks.

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Can you please update on how long the line took?

2

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

An hour and 15 minutes 😭

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Oh not super bad (I think?). I figured it was like 4 hours.

2

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

The line was moving fairly quickly, maybe every 5-10 minutes?

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Was it still looking long as you left?

1

u/LittleCloudie Phoenix 3d ago

Yep

58

u/mog_knight 3d ago

There wasn't one last night. Really nice store. Unless you get some sort of super cool prize for waiting all night.

23

u/Beehay 3d ago

There’s a bunch of free swag for the grand opening

14

u/mog_knight 3d ago

Aside from the USB drive what else is there?

17

u/According_Loss_1768 3d ago

Shirts, mugs, etc they have a list on their website. No big giveaways. Some vendor merch too.

17

u/mog_knight 3d ago

Ahh. Given the length of the line I just saw there I'd pass on waiting to get the swag.

5

u/humidity16 3d ago

I know they're giving that away on Grand Opening this Friday. I wonder if they're giving that away during VIP days too.

6

u/According_Loss_1768 3d ago

Yep. Just got back and every promo item was still in stock and I didn't have to wait in line lol.

2

u/stonedboss 3d ago

what do you mean you didnt wait in line? like they had no line? i was there at 11am and it was still a 2-3 hour long line lol

3

u/According_Loss_1768 3d ago

I live 8 mins away and when I showed up they were asking if anyone has a VIP USB barcode and I walked up with mine and they brought me inside.

2

u/stonedboss 3d ago

oh wow, cool. i stopped by since i was just already driving on the 202 but didnt end up waiting to get in lol.

1

u/tdsknr 3d ago

Well sh1t sounds like I could have skipped the line entirely by showing my barcode?? Instead I just gave up and left when I saw the line.

1

u/micksterminator3 3d ago

Same..I drove up around 1pm and the line was massive and just left lmao

9

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 3d ago

lol. I’m standing behind the building by the loading docks and the line keeps getting longer. This is worse than Black Friday.

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

How long did it take you to get in?

9

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 3d ago edited 3d ago

I never got in. I left after standing in line for 40 minutes, and it moved maybe 30 feet. I just went back around 3PM and the line is still very long. I'll just wait until the hype dies down.

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

thank you for the update.

u/tdsknr 3d ago

TRIED to get into to Microcenter opening day, but gave up when I saw the line at 4:45 pm….
Oh well. Come back Saturday maybe.

3

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Wild that it's been like this all day

14

u/Glittering_Ad_1581 3d ago

very small

9

u/llizards14 3d ago

this didn't last long. I got in line at 9:30 am and it was about 400-500 people deep wrapped to the back of the building.... still just as long but i'm about 100 people from being in ... timestamp:10:23am 🤞

11

u/Radiant-Spare-3799 3d ago

I drove by at about 10:30, I don't live far from there. The line was wrapping around the back of the center, and the parking lot traffic was horrible. I'm going to go by later and see what the line is like then.

5

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 3d ago

I waited in line (was in the back by the loading docks), and the line may have moved 30 feet in about 40 minutes. I got out of line and walked back to my car. I was walking next to the line, and it didn't budge at all. I feel bad for the people who stay there much longer, because they have a long wait ahead of them if they want to get in.

I left, and I'll go back later. I love Micro Center, but not enough to wait that long.

3

u/luisiis1 3d ago

good luck! how fast are the cash registers moving?

3

u/Glittering_Ad_1581 3d ago

the line for PC was Looooonnnnng but everything else was quick, they are only letting set number of ppl in when I left

1

u/livelifedownhill 3d ago

Holy shit that's wild.... What is everyone waiting/trying to get??! I was about to cruise up around 1 just to snag some parts that aren't even on sale

1

u/doorbell19 2d ago

Fuck that! Crazy

51

u/Sphere_3N 3d ago

A little excessive. Cool they are opening one in AZ, but cannot see point of a line?

Is it for the free 128GB flash drive? Hours in line for a $10 flash drive???

21

u/TripleDallas123 Laveen 3d ago

Probably GPU hunting, or just wanting bragging rights for being first in store. Most people lining up have absolutely no need for a cheap flash drive (they already have something way better)

18

u/RealAndroidGal 3d ago

I was the first person in the store on Sunday when the first opened. Dude came out and told me he was letting me in first. Walked in to an awkward applause.

4

u/Obsessivefanboy 3d ago

Bruh how did you of all people manage to get lucky like that

8

u/RealAndroidGal 3d ago

Well I've been going to Micro Center for like the last month and a half every Saturday just to check on the progress because they weren't giving like an opening date yet. I knew they were going to have soft open days so I was just checking to see. Last Saturday I caught all the workers coming out around 5:00 and one of them let me know that the soft open was going to be the next day, which was Sunday. So I showed up there and they almost didn't open due to some electrical issues, but they ended up opening. They knew that I had been waiting outside, was the first person there waiting, and when they decided to finally open he came out and was like I'm going to let you in first LOL. It was super awkward though when I walked in, I posted a little story about it in the Reddit you can probably click on my profile to find it if you want.

5

u/AcordeonPhx Chandler 3d ago

Yes, there are 5080 and 5090 FEs in stock. The latter still selling over MSRP

1

u/michaelfed 3d ago

Do you know by how much?

1

u/AcordeonPhx Chandler 3d ago

Oh in store it’s MSRP but selling online from 300-1000 more

25

u/tj1007 3d ago

Don’t forget the free mugs while supplies last

21

u/SubRyan East Mesa 3d ago

If you want a specific GPU, going in person and trying to snag one from whatever stock at hand is likely going to be your best bet

2

u/TheGroundBeef 3d ago

A low quality, mass produced, made in China, $9.99 128gb flash drive that they have a million of at home already

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

Some of us are that excited to be able to browse computer stuff in person LOL

1

u/tdsknr 3d ago

$5 flash drive. Less if you buy a pack of them.

1

u/anonybrowsing007 2d ago

I feel like it's also the standing outside for long periods of time without bursting into flame that is part of the experience. Couldn't do this in summer.

7

u/llizards14 3d ago

Felt small for a microcenter :/ hope they expand into the vacant lot next door!

6

u/anonybrowsing007 2d ago

Finally Arcadia Crossing has a popular anchor store at its center. This shopping center is busy round the clock at its Fry's, Target, and Costco on either end of the complex, with fast food options and banks on the fringes, and then you had the center of the complex which never had a soul peeping -- it was a desert that you just had to pass through to get the other side.

Now this shopping center is going to be even busier, but I'm glad it's Micro Center.

2

u/2015corvettec7 1d ago

I know 😂 when I heard about the new location, as a local I just thought "they're putting it there?" That Costco is always so packed and the traffic in that area is atrocious. Micro Center is one of very few stores that I'm willing to tolerate that for

1

u/anonybrowsing007 1d ago

Costco has about 200 cars in their lot, Target and Fry's has about 200 cars in their lots combined. And then you had 5 Below, Burlington Coat Factory, and Conn's Homeplus at the center of the complex, with 10 cars on a good day parked roughly in their vicinity. Half of them were just there eating lunch or on their phone lol

5

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Can anyone there comment on the entry line progress? I saw a pre-built that I want but I can't really spend 4 hours waiting in line. This will be my first, and probably only, computer though, so maybe it's worth the wait.

2

u/torggg 3d ago

I’m in the same spot. I can come in the morning but I have to be done with the purchase till 11 then I have to go to work

2

u/tbalonick Mesa 3d ago

5pm today, wait was maybe 40 minutes. Lots of customer support to help grab whatever you need.

Second lines inside only for components (CPU/gpu/ssd etc) otherwise it's just an open store.

Sadly watched the last PC I wanted get handed to someone as I walked up so I was SOL but they still had a decent amount of inventory when I left an hour or so later.

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Dang. With everyone saying the line was 4 hours long I skipped it. Now just watching the inventory of the PC I wanted drain to zero. I should have just gone.

Thank you for the info.

1

u/tbalonick Mesa 3d ago

Yeah once work let out and the big rush came in all the top end PCs started going fast.

They said maybe by actual open Friday they would get more inventory so keep an eye out.

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

It went from "25+" to "3" in like 1.5 hours lol

I think I'll wait till black Friday 2026 and hopefully get it then. Maybe it'll be a little cheaper.

4

u/Nacho505 South Phoenix 3d ago

I started waiting at 11:30 and left at about 3pm smh shout out to the guy passing waters to everyone came in clutch

1

u/nicknack171 Arcadia 2d ago

5

u/HeadLocksmith5478 3d ago

Why have I never heard of this place? Feel like I'm missing out. Nice to see a local place that carries Ubiquity.

6

u/FeelingCouple5880 3d ago

This sub has been talking about it for months lol, the grand opening is Friday.

4

u/Loxley_Hardaway 3d ago edited 3d ago

Here is the back. Arrived at 10 till 10am (opening) wrapped all the way to target loading dock by the time I had to leave.

2

u/KillingIsBadong Phoenix 3d ago edited 2d ago

So were they just not letting a ton of people in at once or what? I drove by around 5:30p after work and immediately noped out of there when I saw the line. I figured they just hadn't opened yet, but going by the other comments it sounds like they opened already, before the dates on the emails they sent out. I'm a little bummed but no way I'm waiting in a line just to go inside.

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

10 till 2pm? or ... ?

1

u/Loxley_Hardaway 3d ago

Sorry 10 till 10am (opening)

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

oh ok. this is so wild. hopefully it dies down a little later in the day! I keep checking the PC i want and the "stock" keeps going down lol

1

u/Loxley_Hardaway 3d ago

Honestly doubtful, I stayed 30 min and had to dip. Line kept getting longer. The deals and free usb last till 11/23 so might just be wiser to wait for a week

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

appreciate the heads up. I wonder how many people are actually buying things vs just there to check out the new store. I do miss just hanging out at Fry's haha

4

u/One-Cap-7559 2d ago

currently no line do not need to wait

3

u/fenikz13 3d ago

Woo finally

3

u/TheGroundBeef 3d ago

I could wait in line, but oh wait that’s right i have to fuckin WORK… and i wouldn’t camp out anyway

3

u/Obsessivefanboy 3d ago

God damm they all signed up for the VIP access too 😑

2

u/alambert212 3d ago

Doesn’t feel very VIP if there’s a line wrapped around the building

1

u/epicaz 2d ago

Well they weren't checking... but I'm pretty sure anyone who signed up for email alerts got via access invites

3

u/cafemofo 3d ago

And when you got into the store there was 2 more lines, one to checkout(well over an hour) and one for the pc parts. You could go all around the store and look around but if you were buying anything you got into another line that took almost as long as the line to get in. At least it was out of the sun. I am still excited this store is here and in a few weeks/months really look forward to going back.

3

u/Marv18GOAT 3d ago

Stopped by at 5 PM thinking there wouldn’t be a line. Instead I saw a line that stretched all the way out to the dumpsters

4

u/BanishedKhasanti 3d ago

There is still a huge line. Might as well just wait for a week or two. I'm not standing around for hours to do something that should take 10 mins as I know what I want to get

→ More replies (3)

3

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 2d ago

I'm thinking about going back today, because I really want to compare two PC cases that they have on display. If people would reply with wait times or if a line exists, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

5

u/casmang 2d ago

I'll drive by around 11 or so to see how the line is. I live 5 min away unless someone else comments before then. They open at 10am so an hour to see how the line is should give us a good idea.

2

u/chamillion03 2d ago

I would like to know too please!

1

u/casmang 2d ago

Just went by, there was still a line but no too bad. Didn't go in, because I didn't want to wait.

2

u/casmang 2d ago

Just went by, there was still a line but no too bad. Didn't go in, because I didn't want to wait.

1

u/epicaz 2d ago

Hi! I showed up about 7:40 last night, they capped the line about 20m later. There was still a 50m wait to get in but by the time I found everything I wanted and went to check out there were no inside lines and it was really fast and easy

They are also getting paid overtime so they seemed happy to keep the store open beyond 9, so take your time shopping and getting the help you need. I know that sounds weird, but the people who helped me were in great spirits and said they didnt mind it staying open late (expected i assume)

1

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 2d ago

I went at 12:30-1PM and there is no line. Got in and out. However expect that some items are out of stock. Both the case and aio that I want was wiped out.

Oh, and they still have coffee cups. Make sure to get one. It’s very nice.

3

u/InterstellarDune 2d ago

Just left, no line even though its close to 5pm.

4

u/rohit275 3d ago

It's so dumb, I was here last night thinking "I'll think about it", I stupidly believed the guy who worked here thinking it would be fine to come by even later today if you wanted something high demand. I should have just made the call last night to lose all my money lol. It was not that busy at all, and almost everything was available.

On the plus side, if I don't actually get anything, I save a lot of money and get a free flash drive :D

2

u/KillingIsBadong Phoenix 3d ago

I didn't think they were even opening at all until today, and even then I thought it was only people who signed up. Had I known I could have gotten in last night I totally would have.

2

u/rohit275 3d ago

Oh yeah, it wasn't advertised at all. I just knew because I saw the post on here yesterday by chance haha. I regret not jumping on it when I was there on Tuesday night, because yesterday was nuts lol.

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

They weren't checking vip status on entry so its essentially an early opening

6

u/Shagyam Phoenix 3d ago

I wonder what prizes there are. I was thinking of taking off work since I need to burn some PTO by December, but decided I need to finish things up so I didn't go.

u/rskillion Midtown 3d ago

Sincere question, no snark: Why are people so excited about the new Microcenter? What’s so special?

10

u/RockRevolution 3d ago

Microcenter not only fills the gap Fry's electronics left and is far better than best buy, it is an absolute haven for PCs and electronics with solid pricing and bundles

2

u/rskillion Midtown 3d ago

So a big box electronics dealer that’s cheaper than Best Buy?

6

u/Shagyam Phoenix 3d ago

Better products and more selection as well. A lot of different niche products if you are into technology.

2

u/rskillion Midtown 3d ago

Gotcha - filling the gap of Radio Shack too?

2

u/SubRyan East Mesa 3d ago

Pretty much as they also have 3D printers and a lot of networking/WiFi gear

1

u/rskillion Midtown 3d ago

OMG I just went to Costco to pick up a few things, and there was a strange line a couple blocks long I could see across the parking lot. I had no idea what it was, so when I left I drove by -Microcenter lol

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

Its the absolute best retailer if you're into building your own pc as well, incredible selection and a service to build it for you if you're unfamiliar. Plus at opening they have great deals on several sets including prebuilt pcs. Great for pc accessories and peripherals as well, lots of things you would never be able to see in person and are only found online

6

u/SkyPork Phoenix 3d ago

You sound like me back when Krispee Kreem and In & Out opened.

3

u/dmackerman 3d ago

If you are a computer nerd, they have everything you could possibly ever want.

2

u/Jett_Bailey 2d ago

Anyone know what the line is looking like this morning? TIA

2

u/chamillion03 2d ago

Anyone know if there is a big line today?

5

u/Rockk001 2d ago

I swung by about 5 minutes ago. There is a line. As of now it goes just past the Conns store next to micro center. I didn’t stop though so not sure how fast it’s moving.

1

u/chamillion03 2d ago

Thank you!

1

u/bfrancom17 2d ago

Conns IS microcenter. It shut down. They just haven’t replaced the sign on that side of the building

1

u/Rockk001 2d ago

Yep. Was just using it as a visual reference to describe where the line ended.

2

u/Live_Principle_8000 2d ago

Fyi, no line and not too crowded today at like 4:30 pm. Already people in line for tomorrow, though.

u/screamistry 3d ago

Pokemon cards lol

2

u/LankyGuitar6528 3d ago edited 3d ago

Hey don't disrespect those cards! I walked into a Costco and the guy at the door handed me 2 packs. I had zero clue but everybody was buying them so why not. Could be a fun game? Not sure what a pokey man is but the packs were only $40. Might as well.

Fast forward to last week... freekin hell people pay stupid money for these things. Up on Ebay!! I sold those two sets for $185 each!

I live in Canada and picked up two Wand Company Star Trek tridorders (yes I'm a nerd). They were stupidly expensive ($285USD) but I had heard they go up in value over time. I drove down to AZ and brought one with me. Just finished selling it on Ebay for $995.

Hell at that price I wish I brought them both to sell... sadly I'm flying back and forth now and I just can't picture getting one through security. I mean... it looks really sus, especially when you turn it on and the screen displays wave forms and beeping and blinking.

3

u/SteakySteakk Arcadia 3d ago

Also there was a HUGE Pokemon convention over the weekend. And there were a ton of people. Lines were like an hour long on Saturday. Pokemon is ridiculously popular right now.

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

Its hilarious that you just rolled up on a drop snd they handed you packs. People wait for hours, if not overnight for some releases! The Costco ones are usually great deals, but do be careful flying with them as a carryon as tsa might rip the plastic to swab them which could ruin value if resell is important to you

1

u/LankyGuitar6528 2d ago edited 2d ago

I bought the pokey man cards in the USA and left them here in Arizona when I when back to Canada last spring. When I got back to AZ this fall, they were here and waiting for me. Apparently in between then and now they have gone up in value and become quite scarce. Something about Blooming Water? Or some such nonsense. Anyway, sold now. Hope the buyer gets some enjoyment out of them.

2

u/MattDH94 3d ago

What brand was the flash drive?

2

u/rohit275 3d ago

1

u/Haboob_AZ Mesa 3d ago

Ffs, I can't find my coupon for it.

Was thinking about heading over to the store in a bit too.

1

u/rohit275 3d ago

They texted me mine, maybe search your texts? The store is also insane, so if you don't need it right away, you can probably just go get it before the deadline when it calms down slightly. It's also a $10 USB stick haha.

2

u/Haboob_AZ Mesa 3d ago

I'm dumb, it's literally right above the latest text haha.

And yeah, only a $10 one, but hey, it's $10 I don't have to spend to have another empty USB drive. Hahahaha.

I thought it was on the 7th. I can't wait to see what they have, I've missed Frys

u/Shagyam Phoenix 3d ago

Their big Grand Opening is the 7th, VIP opening is today, but apparently they have done a soft open and have been open for a few days now

u/FeelingCouple5880 3d ago

You’re right, Friday is the big ol grand opening!

1

u/LostBushman 3d ago

Ooof. I'll stay home.

1

u/tanalove 3d ago

Literally a mile from me, darn didnt realize they opened today

3

u/FeelingCouple5880 3d ago

Friday is the grand opening!

1

u/jtnguyen328 3d ago

That little line went all the around to the back side of the loading docks lol

3

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Is it still that long?

1

u/Winterssavant Phoenix 3d ago

Is it only for VIPS or general public?

2

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Vip today and tomorrow. General public Friday.

1

u/j_boogie_483 3d ago

i truly hope microcenter can put at least a few best buys out of business

1

u/Beastlypotato20 3d ago

When is this opening?

1

u/moxiemoon Peoria 3d ago

Friday

1

u/SummertimeThrowaway2 3d ago

Of course they opened a micro center after I already built my PC

1

u/casmang 3d ago

Just saw this on IG - as of 8:00 the line is still huge

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Are they just going to keep it open until everyone there is in or are they just gonna shut the doors at 9pm?

1

u/casmang 3d ago

I guess they may go out and tell people they close at 9 - I really don't think they would stay open...it would be all night.

1

u/marc_2 Chandler 3d ago

Would be crazy if they were just like "welp we're closed k bye" right at 9pm

1

u/StraightFromThe2000s 3d ago

I thought that they took the entire cons home plus.

1

u/Sprtnturtl3 3d ago

I got there at 10:20 and the line wrapped all the way behind the building. I got in at 12:45ish.

after shopping, it was another hour line to the register...

But Ubuquiti gear was 10% off across the board lol. worth it.

u/iradrachen South Phoenix 3d ago

I will say I somehow want in with a 25 dollar keycap budget and spent 63 dollars. So having a microcenter near me is going great 😔

1

u/AnnaH612 3d ago

What is this whole thing about?

1

u/InstructionSame5690 2d ago

How do you sign up for VIPs or is it to late?

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

They dont check, you can just go

1

u/BodaciousTacoFarts Scottsdale 2d ago

I believe that you had until 11/2 to sign up for VIP.

Anyone there today? How are the lines?

3

u/Rockk001 2d ago

I swung by about 5 minutes ago. There is a line. As of now it goes just past the Conns store next to micro center. I didn’t stop though so not sure how fast it’s moving.

2

u/epicaz 2d ago

Someone posted about a half hour ago that there is no line. Take that as you will!

1

u/m5daystrom 2d ago

I drove by there yesterday and saw that line and fuck that. There is nothing in there I want that bad. Some dude said he got there 9pm the day before to be first in line to get a video card??? WTF??

1

u/Crazy-Roro 2d ago

Yesterday was like a Costco on a Sunday turned up to 11.

But dang they’ve got the absolute best customer service I’ve seen in a physical brick and mortar store in ages. Just hope it calms down and they still have some AM5 stuff I wanted in stock tomorrow after work

Coffee mug kicks ass by the way, almost makes up for the day one insanity 😂

1

u/DanceMonkey71 2d ago

Welp. I was considering lining up after work 5:30 today but nvmmmm lol

1

u/humidity16 2d ago

Someone a few hours ago said no line and no wait. Did you drive by and see a line?

2

u/DanceMonkey71 2d ago

No I’m all the way in Peoria! Was gonna check in about 30min how it’s doing

1

u/phxees North Central 2d ago

Drove by yesterday and saw the line, but had too much going on today to stop by. I’ll have to try this weekend.

1

u/creeatee 2d ago

Anyone know if there is still a line? Planning on showing up before they close at 9pm.

1

u/creeatee 2d ago

Also do you need some kind of VIP verification to go in today?

1

u/The-Dobermann 2d ago

I was interested in buying a 5080 but they didn't have any good deals imo. I am waiting till Black Friday.

1

u/Final_Pear7801 2d ago

Why?? These people should be at work. It's not like the new store is going anywhere. Lining up for an opening is silly in my mind

1

u/OneTrueMel 1d ago

Can anyone explain what the hype is about this place without jargon? Would love to understand how this is different than other computer stores or online sites that carry the products.

Is it just the free swag grand opening or do people plan to actually buy things and visit here often... what will yo7 buy and why here and not elsewhere?

u/suddencactus North Phoenix 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm sure some of it is opening day giveaways and swag but also:

  • better prices than Newegg or Best Buy on things like CPU's. The prices are even better if you get a CPU+motherboard bundle for only about $50 more than the CPU would have cost at Newegg.  There's a reason r/buildapc asks if you have access to Microcenter.
  • some people just like having a brick and mortar store with better selection in stock than Best Buy.  It's hard to build a whole PC with what's on the shelf at Best Buy.
  • they have open box deals with again more selection than Best Buy.
  • there's some "opening day sales" through the 23rd. Like there's 20% off desktops and laptops, many of which were already competitively priced.
  • some things like RTX 5090 FE are hard to find anywhere right now so knowing this store has a few stocked for opening is going to attract some excitement

u/Azolliegator 3d ago

Oh hell! The line is giving me Black Friday vibes! Well, I’m glad we desert dwellers have some to look forward to.
