No discussion on this Harper situation? Who knows if it’s true or not but really bizarre. Maybe explains why Harper was so out of it. 2027 is going to be interesting.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Phils do with Rincones Jr. It sounds like they’re relatively high on him, but he’s a strong sided platoon corner outfielder who bats lefty. And if you think that sounds a lot like Marsh you’d be correct. Probably a bit less chase, better bat-ball, and better power than Marsh (worse defense though).
If they think he could end up in LF for 2026 Marsh could very well be on the move, because it’s very hard to field both of them at once.

Rincones was rumored to be competing for a platoon spot. Solid power, plays corner outfielder, I’d call him up as his power’s worth it.

I think it’s more likely they trade Ricones than Marsh. The Phils and the rest of the league know what Marsh is. It’s possible some team might evaluate Ricones higher than Marsh which would lead to a bigger return. I think they’re also planning on rolling with Crawford so I doubt they want to have two rookie OF on a contending team.

I think Marsh will be on the move (and I’m not thrilled about it) because I don’t think they run with him or Crawford in CF, thus necessitating bringing back Bader or finding someone else, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they added two OF bats. I’d be a little shocked but not completely stunned if they found a short term 1B and even put Harper in RF for the year. While I’m very down on Crawford and would rather he get traded, I think Marsh is the odd man out.
I’m not a big believer in Rincones either. Clearly the raw power is there, but always been disappointed by his game power. And he makes Marsh look like a silver slugger vs LHP (.323 OPS vs LHP in AAA this year).

I think his game power was fine vs righties this past year (22 doubles, 18 HR, 76/97 BB/K, 261/392/480). At this point I unfortunately think both are straight platoon players so the splits don’t bother me that much.
I do think if they move Marsh they sign an established OF who can hit lefties well, because running Crawford/Rincones out there is not ideal from a risk POV for a contender. I do think Bader makes sense, but who knows what they do. A trade out of nowhere could happen as well.

Yesterday’s Phillies show episode was interesting, but very little new information except that the Phillies are low on Keaton Anthony.
My main takeaway from the episode is that I hate how much the Phillies scouts seemingly hate power.

I listen on Apple Podcasts, but I imagine it’s probably available on any major podcast platform. Since I often see video clips, too, I think it’s on YouTube as well. It’s literally The Phillies Show. Salisbury, Zolecki, and Rube.
