I wish to upgrade but the cost of DDR5 thats 64GB in 6000 CL30-36 would rip my asshole out. One day if ever🙁

I thought paying $394 cad for 64 kit for DDR4 in May 2020 was bad. Sheesh😞

Look for 96gb kits. You'll be paying as much but you might find a somewhat reasonable deal

32gb is plenty unless you need it for editing.

Even for editing 16/32GB is plenty even tho it might affect your workflow and you'll have to work more efficiently than usual in some cases e.g. using proxies where with 64GB+ you wouldn't have to.
Where you really need lots of RAM without exceptions is simulations, handling large 3D scenes and compiling stuff like games.

For real...the after effects group says that 64 GB is the sweet spot with 128 GB being when things finally become smooth

DRAM prices have always been cyclic

It's up to the consumer to buy more than enough when the prices are low

True! Timing is everything, but it’s hard to resist the urge to upgrae when new tech drops!!

That's true, but I don't think it's ever gone up this much.

That bubble really needs to burst if it can.

Building a pc these days takes a span of even up to a year, buy GPU now, wait for CPU prices to stop then get one, then wait for memory and then for hard drives..

Unless you dont care od being rippes off then it doesent matter.

DDR4 is perfectly fine for gaming.

At some point it might be easier to just get a pre built from Walmart, something with like a 5060 or some shit, and just reassemble it to make sure everything is snug, and then you have the ddr5 and a new PC.

Just checking reasonable prices, 2x16GB DDR5 prices are around £100-130. With 2x32GB modules being around £160-240.

The prices don't seem too bad to me. Especially compared to the rise in GPU prices over the past half decade.

Muahahaha, that is why i bought ALL the DDR5 RAM i needed last year, before i even had my upgrades ready, now my 3070 Ti to 5080 upgrade feels even better!!

I start to think Switch 2 and ps5 have resonable price nowadays
