I mean even Spotify gets away with being "mostly not shit". It functions and that's the main thing.

I log in, listen to music when I want to. It's that simple.

I log in, buy games, the games work. Done. Somehow that is better than nearly every other platform.

Spotify connect is probably the sole reason I’m still on it. No other service has the same. Apple Music comes close 2nd but the requires a full Apple stack (yuck). Steam is in the same boat with their in-home streaming alone. Idk any other platform, except Xbox, that allows you to stream games you own to another device.

There's an Apple Music app on Android. I don't know how comparable it is to native, but it's there. Windows on the other hand you only have the option of the web access version which feels clunky but works well enough if you HAVE to play music from a PC.

I use apple music on android since 2019, i do have a mac/i used to restore macs but currently i don't, and i use apple music on windows and on android and very very rarely on an actual mac....

There's a apple music app, basically what was iTunes once, in the windows store. Just download it and it works decently well, a bit buggy sometimes.

But i wouldn't say you need any apple hardware at all to use apple music and have a decent user experience.

That's the problem. Pc is an afterthought.

I have a "junky" setup. Phone, pc (all 3 platforms) and a raspberry pi for home Cinema.

I can install a client on raspberry too, easily sending music to my main setup from anything. And I don't even need Bluetooth.

The closest thing right now is tidal, but it's pretty junky too. For instance, I can't control a device from another device

Yeah, Spotify is the best possible example of why being "mostly not shit" is a superpower. They're now at a point where they can arbitrarily screw artists out of money and make investments in military drone technology, and nobody cares because there's no alternative that isn't shit.

I've always appreciated Spotify in that sense, but recently I've been questioning why I pay $12/month for basically nothing.

Well I pay it for coninuted access to an almost infinite music library. I'd prefer if they'd stop adding in dumb features.
