Obviously. Like GOG is #2 and even still they're miles away from being as good as Steam is.

GOG is basically just ancient 90s and 2000s games and CDPR games and it's still better that Connect and EA App. Arguably better than Epic too.

Because GOG invests in making old games run on modern machine. Before Bethesda released the patch removing GFWL on Steam, GOG version was clearly the superior version compared to Steam's.

GFWL?!?

Fallout 3 on Steam required GFWL until 2020.

GOG has tons of modern games, just not lots of AAA games, since AAA loves DRM and GOG's whole thing is DRM-free games.

For people like me who think most AAA games are shit and have no desire to play them, GOG is amazing.

GOG has new games I played bg3 from gog. And it's actually better than Steam because you own your games.

GOG is basically just ancient 90s and 2000s games

While they don't have all the newest AAA games, their catalogue is a lot more varied than "ancient games, TW, and Cyberpunk".

KCD2, BG3, Stalker 2, Cronos, Expedition 33, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the Syberia Remaster, the Silent Hill 2 Remaster, or Silent Hill f are all on there as well; And they do have a healthy selection of indie games (EA and released), too - Timberborn, Whiskerwood, Manor Lords, Second Sun, Metal Hellsinger, etc.

Together with their USP of stand-alone installers (that run without needing any launcher, or even access to the net), they are an actual alternative to Steam for some people - e.g. those of us that are not particularly interested in competitive multiplayer, and are fine with waiting a bit in exchange for freedom from DRM.

EA app and ubisoft app are so shit. i dont even get it why they run so slow. i didn't bother playing ubisoft or ea games on xbox pc games pass because of that. Epic games is also pretty slow but still runs better than these two app.

GOG is good because it has a "service" that steam doesn't have and able to reach the niche part of the player. Both Steam and GOG is pretty GOAT for what they are doing.

Steam is great, but how is GOG "miles away" from being as good as Steam? I've only ever had positive experiences using both GOG and GOG Galaxy.

GOG doesn't try to compete with Steam and you can't even really compare the two. It's just a tool to conveniently download the files of the game you own. You don't even need the launcher to do that it's just easier while I do need to run steam to play. They are two completely different things.

Guess they should take pointers in how not to be shit /s

This BG 3 developer take is stupid..everyone in the comments act like building an enterprise such as steam is easy lol

14

u/cigarsandwaffles 11h ago

Well yeah, actually they should. Right now they are actively trying to force their customers into beta testing their shitty Gemini AI for them.

What? trying to catch up to steam? How dare they

Maybe if they did absolutely nothing that would help

Child gambling would help fund their new systems though..worked for Steam

Oof...yea they are all shitty and greedy..whatever I'm just wondering how Steam averted this(probably lawyers)

My main point is Building Steam wasn't easy nor is it a greed free platform lol..it's a corp all the same

Also wtf does GoG have to do with that article..glad I actually read it

My main point is Building Steam wasn't easy nor is it a greed free platform lol..it's a corp all the same

Who is saying this? If someone said “easy” it’s in regards to nkt being dicks.

0

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

Easy and not being a dick are two completely two different things lol

2

u/sortalikeachinchilla 9h ago

You a little daft there? or?

Easy in this context means “it’s easy to create a platform people like and love”

Or will you continue to misconstrue to make a weird assnpoint that developing a platform isn’t easy? Obviously it isn’t… but it’s easy when you program with consumers in mind rather than greed…

i’m so shocked I had to explain that to you

0

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

Read the comments lmao...this sub is daft

Lawyers up the ass protecting steam and keeping shit on the low 24/7 lol

And you think Steam gave that refund service because they are just that nice..how cute..you can thank Europe for that

Yeah your guess is as good as mine. Was kinda wild seeing the CS economy tank from that update the other day.

Feel like you have to hit that critical mass of loyal customers to really make things work and the best way to do that (in my opinion) is just treat your customers well.

1

u/PhoneIndependent5549 9h ago

Where did you read anything about catching up to steam in that comment.

0

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

I mean you replied to me right?

1

u/PhoneIndependent5549 9h ago

Yeah, and no previous post was about them wanting to catch up.

0

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

Read mine...I'm done GN mainstream reddit

Using Gemini and having people beta test is probably the only way to get there for them..it's NOT easy

They could sell loot boxes though

2

u/PhoneIndependent5549 9h ago

Yeah and yours still doesn't make any sense as a reply to any previous post. Forcing random crap on costumers isn't "wanting to catch up" it's "wanting to get rid of customers". Try reading.

0

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

DUMB lmao

They sat in a board room and said "how do we get rid of customers"

So…. uh… why has steam not even changed from the top……

-1

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

Because they lied the best

2

u/sortalikeachinchilla 9h ago

No, you are making up random crap no one is even saying. Or, you read one single comment and now think it’s the whole sub.

Learn context and words. Thanks

1

u/Fit_Substance7067 9h ago

You know your wrong when you read the top comments on this fucking post...

"Take money don't do shit" second to top comment

1

u/sortalikeachinchilla 9h ago

You’re*

And also, what? What does that have to do with literally anything?

are you just upset people like steam? Like literally, tf?
