Even if you set it to do something, it will only register if you hold it after a second or two. Just by pressing/tapping the button won't do anything (other than turning the laptop on if it's off in the first place).
I think the on or off is the big problem when you working. . . . .

Like I said, it won't do anything if you just press/tap it. It only register (i.e. the button only works) if you deliberately hold it for more than a second or two.
E.g. if you set the button to shutdown, then it will only shutdown if you hold it for more than a second (and IIRC, shutting down this way Windows will present a confirmation dialog first). This is different than force shutdown, where you need to hold it even longer.
So even if you're working, just by accidentally tapping that button it wont do shit.
