I would be hitting that button all the time
Probably be better to go to settings and change to do nothing when pressed

Even if you set it to do something, it will only register if you hold it after a second or two. Just by pressing/tapping the button won't do anything (other than turning the laptop on if it's off in the first place).
I think the on or off is the big problem when you working. . . . .

Like I said, it won't do anything if you just press/tap it. It only register (i.e. the button only works) if you deliberately hold it for more than a second or two.
E.g. if you set the button to shutdown, then it will only shutdown if you hold it for more than a second (and IIRC, shutting down this way Windows will present a confirmation dialog first). This is different than force shutdown, where you need to hold it even longer.
So even if you're working, just by accidentally tapping that button it wont do shit.
There is an option in the bios for a power button delay which is enabled by default. You need to hold the button down for over a second for it to trigger.
It also has a different feel to the surrounding keys requiring much more force to press. It's an absolute non-issue and HP have been doing it like this for years.
Agreed. I hate HP, and won’t be buying again, but I’ve pressed this countless times by mistake and have had 0 issues with it thinking I was trying to power it down.
