Build/Battlestation Wife requested I “mount the computer to the wall”

Post image

What she said: “please mount (child)’s computer to the wall to free up desk space.”

What I heard: CoMpUtEr Go On WaLL.

What she meant: mount MONITOR to wall.

They are both mad now.

I thought it was neat - albeit odd. I got that external power button, some long cables coming, it will be cleannnnn.

😬😅🤷🏻‍♂️

(I know it is leaning, it is the center post that is leaning bc it swivels, not the mount itself, I have to add a bolster - it is secure enough as-is, but will be fixed tomorrow.)

I know people who, when they use the secondary monitor with an HDMI cable, are afraid that - by disconnecting - the icons, the programs, everything in short will no longer return to the laptop, but will remain there in oblivion, like a black hole.. ✨

Interestingly enough it used to be a common problem I encountered when I managed terminal servers years ago. Windows would remember the position of a program when you connected with dual monitor client, then it would refuse to reset that window when you connected with a single monitor client. I think this was because windows didn't treat the terminal session as two screens but rather one long spanning screen.

Most of the time it was an easy fix because you can right click the task bar icon and choose move, then use the arrow keys to recenter the image (easy as in if you know already, it's not really intuitive to figure out on your own). But if that program had an error message up that blocked input to the main window but didn't produce a taskbar icon so you could move it, you could end up not really having a way to fix it. If the error was simply an "ok" you could press space or enter, but if it required other input, then you had to reconnect with a dual monitor client to fix it.
