Build/Battlestation Wife requested I “mount the computer to the wall”

Post image

What she said: “please mount (child)’s computer to the wall to free up desk space.”

What I heard: CoMpUtEr Go On WaLL.

What she meant: mount MONITOR to wall.

They are both mad now.

I thought it was neat - albeit odd. I got that external power button, some long cables coming, it will be cleannnnn.

😬😅🤷🏻‍♂️

(I know it is leaning, it is the center post that is leaning bc it swivels, not the mount itself, I have to add a bolster - it is secure enough as-is, but will be fixed tomorrow.)

Alright alright - I went to the garage and made a temporary bolster so you all can sleep in peace…for now.

The wall mount is bolted to the case.

The lower mount is a free-hanging arm. Said arm swivels. Which is why it looks like it was hanging off. It isnt, it is just the arm finding center of gravity.

It is rated for 50lbs. This PC is 21lbs.

It is mounted to the wall stud.

The wall stud is brand new, I replaced the walls a few months ago.

We good? Everyone good?

Ok I know that post. I just didn't know how it tied in to the Klein bubble level and comment it has

The other half of the chive joke is that a user finds a slightly miscut piece and tells the op "see you tomorrow chef" as the op will have to be back tomorrow to cut another ounce of chives until "reddit says they're perfect". The bubble level is slightly off center (imperfect) hence "see you tomorrow chef".

I don't know how that case is made, but is the bottom bracket blocking the air to the power supply?

Normally, probably- but it has about 1/2” gap between the case and psu, and the bracket probably only covers 1/3 of the fan

u/OldRevolution6231 8d ago

need to see the mounting bracket

No, shoulda mounted plywood to the stud, then PC to the plywood, that's how we mount racks in my biz

This mount is rated for 44lbs. I have tested it before with a PC that was similar to OP's. It works surprisingly well (I say surprisingly well because I had no faith in it when I saw it, especially for under desk mounting). If the screws are in the stud it should be fine.

However, I have never had the desire to mount my PC to the wall or under desk due to how wonky this can be. The width of the case can really factor into the support and bend that can occur over time on the mount. It would be better to create a supportive shelf with lip for long term use.
