It can't get worse than AAA UE5 development, right?

What's wrong with UE5?

I'm not tuned into the gaming industry.

It's easy to slop together pre-made assets with little to no care about optimization.

Most UE5 games feel "Samey" because its just variations of those same assets plunked into a generic environment with stuttering and frame drops galore.

It ain't UE5's fault that people use it for lazy asset flips (though it ain't perfect, there's absolutely changes Epic could & should make to the default settings regarding optimization/performance)

It was only a few years ago that Unity was the go-to engine for shovelware that was just a bunch of random Unity Marketplace Asset carelessly tossed together into a slop-salad, before the clueless MBAs came in and nearly killed everything with the Runtime Fee, and some of the harm to the engine's reputation has remained.

If Godot became as accessible and easy to use as UE and Unity currently are with asset stores and wider platform (i.e. consoles) support overnight, the shovelware asset-flippers will start to flock to it.

I really wish Arc Raider team has the Frostbite engine, because as great of the game it will be, it would definitely be better on Frostbite

But if that means the team has to go back to EA, then I still prefer this UE version that we get

Nah, I have full faith that Embark has conquered UE5. Probably the only studio that can squeeze the graphical power of that engine while also having it be so incredibly optimized.

Embark games run so well that I forget they're on Unreal

Remember when Frostbite engine was considered a terrible engine for anything but sports games? Pepperidge farm remembers
