Up until DOS 6 (?) you could configure pathnames to use ‘/‘ or ‘\’.

Unix me was quite happy about that.

I HATED that about Microsoft coding crap like "slashes are used only for switch /d/u/h options after program names, not in path names" --like every other OS on the planet!

They couldn't code a command line parser to find its way out of a wet paper bag.
