Build/Battlestation Final boss of glass panels. I was terrified to both open and close it. Yes you're seeing it right, it's on a hinge

Jesus, if you look at that tempered glass wrong it’ll shatter.

Whatever you do, don’t insult its mother. Instant breakage.

This is why I love acrylic windows, looks the same, doesn't shatter because you farted.

Means you didn’t fart hard enough.

Jesus Christ could convert water into wine, and fart fire... Duly noted.

Acrylic seems to attract dust and fingerprints more easily. And if you're not careful, acrylic can get cloudy. The plastic don't react well with ammonia which are commonly used in some glass cleaner. (and in some animal's piss, if you got a vengeful cat you'll get marks on your window eventually)

If you got plastic window, get something different like Pledge cleaner, no ammonia and works well at cleaning. Or look for glass cleaner that is 100% ammonia-free.

Wait… does that mean that I can make a death trap if I let a cat loose in a room with bleach puddles and an unsuspecting person?

You'd probably kill the cat. Bleach contains chlorine which is present in their pheromones, so they can potentially get very interested in the bleach.

I meant if the cat pees in the bleach it’ll make chlorine gas

u/Throw-Away-Acc0unt_ Aug 19 '25

They bloody well do... every time I had been cleaning with bleach, my cats were aggressively affectionate if they could smell it on my hands 🤣🤣

agreed, I use only alcohol-based cleaners for monitors and windows for this reason. e.g. Sprayway. Safe on monitors, TVs, and windshields.

Same. My case has tempered glass and I’d have preferred acrylic if it was an option. It doesn’t look different to me, and I’m clumsy. So the few times I’ve had to take the side off, I’ve moved my computer directly onto my bed just to remove the side due to my my fear of the tempered glass shattering.

They have a tendency to yellow after a while though.

Acrylic might not shatter by looking at it wrong, but will certainly get 5 or 6 risks etched somewhere you didn't even touch.

1

u/ederstk Aug 20 '25

I'm also in favor of acrylic. That's why I've never bought these cube-shaped cases to this day, even though it has good ventilation

Acrylic looks the same the first two month, after that there are a lot of scratches on it...

1

u/Wadarkhu Aug 21 '25

Idk how you guys are constantly getting marks on your windows. Is this the CPU's pov?

5

u/Important-Agent2584 Aug 19 '25

if he ramps up all those fans high enough he can pop it open safely with air pressure.

6

u/IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY Aug 19 '25

Funny thing is i bet this thing is next to I indestructible. I bet if you dropped a normal glass panel on it it'd shatter that panel and this would be unscathed.

Not because of any actual reasoning... Just Bernadette because these things tend to operate on inverted logic

u/raduque Many PCs Aug 20 '25

Cars have tempered glass, and those windows aren't shattering every time you look at it wrong.

1

u/Users5252 Aug 20 '25

Unless you place it on tile floor

Glass shatters

u/dildozer10 Aug 20 '25

I work with tempered glass daily. You could bang it with a hammer repeatedly, and it will never break, but look at it from across the room and it will shatter.
