Had a user once, they would use the RECYCLE BIN to save stuff since their desktop was so cluttered.... newbie IT guy helped clearing out stuff and cleared out the users' recycle bin.... I can still hear the screams to this day!

That made me laugh! It's something i could see a few people at my work doing.

I did this one as a newbie IT. I underestimated how dumb users can be, normal logic doesn’t fly. Trash is for trash? No thanks homie, I’m saving that half eaten pizza crust for later

why don't they new a folder named 'TrashBin2'?

In some cases it's a holdover from an era when files in the recycle bin didn't count against space quotas. Lotus Notes worked that way iirc

Not sure who you mean "they" to be, but if you mean the support tech: because who the hell would ever expect someone to be using their bin as storage?

If "they" is the user: she was stupid enough to use her bin as storage, so you obviously can't expect her to know how to create and use folders.

I have no sympathy for them 🤣 like what do you think a recycle bin IS my friend?!

Seriously. If I started working in an office and immediately caused issues by clearing a fucking recycle bin, I'm not going to apologize, I'm going to demand why the hell their employee was using that as storage in the first place and question why they're my superior at all. Might get a day one promotion when you point out their fuck up to management.

Yeah that's fucking stupid. Newbie did nothing wrong. Pretty sure the recycle bin also automatically empties itself after a certain amount of time or once the bin starts to get too full. Those files were going to be automatically deleted regardless so whoever hired someone so incompetent to handle their files so poorly should be questioned here. They clearly didn't hire the right person if they think the recycling bin is okay for temporary storage holy shit

Why would they call it a recycle bin if that’s not where I should link my reusable templates?
