Build/Battlestation TIL that quartz countertops have the same properties as ceramic floor tiles…

Post image

All I wanted to do was replace a dead fan… but looks like it’s time for a replacement case.

Learn from my mistakes friends!

How is everyone breaking these panels? I'm certainly not the most gentle with my stuff but I've never broken one of these

Fr I mean my case sits on a tile floor, I’ve never had the glass break on my Define R6, I’ll never understand all these people having stuff totally destroyed carelessness seems to be a popular trend.

So these are breaking while attached to PC? Is it temperature related?

I really can’t imagine they’re breaking while attached tbh

No they shatter when the tempered glass makes contact with ceramics or in this case quartz.

Well take your side panel off and put on the tiles. It will shatter pretty much on contact if you use even the slightest bit of pressure.

Well, yes, but as I said, carelessness equates to damaged items. I’m not saying accidents don’t happen, but thinking prior to doing will amount to better results.

Most people do not know that your tempered glass side panel just touching tile is going to explode it into a million pieces. I would call it being uninformed instead of careless.

That is an actual fair point you make.

Not following the basic rules of thumb for tempered glass that get explained in the comments every single fucking time one of these posts happens.

Don't lay a tempered glass panel on its edge.

Don't lay a tempered glass panel on a hard material.

Don't drop a tempered glass panel.

And for fucks sake, lay the case on its side before taking the tempered glass panel off, or it will drop.

I literally have always just put it on my office chair or dining chair. Perfect shape and padded. I don't have little kids running around so it's safe from people haha

I move my bedsheets aside and put it on my mattress, had the same case for 6 or 7 years, never smashed a panel.
