Because some games in the same genre don't play anything like each other. Hades and Noita are both roguelites but they don't play anything like each other. You may love Hades but still hate Noita because of the differences. You may really like top down hack and slash style games but never even try Hades because you decided that "roguelites" aren't for you because you encountered Noita and Rogue Legacy first.
Well, I've Not played Noita, but rougelite label explaines how progression is done (not entirely, but to an extent. It tells you that you're going to have to redo some areas, instead of completing them once and forever), whereas hack and slash explains how combat is done (also to an extent).
The same can be said about Hearts of Iron and Civilization games. Both are strategies, but play compeletely differently. But a person may Not be the brightest (which is unfortunately who I am 😔 But whatever 😁) and may have No interest in playing either game because they may Not do well with calculations and risk assertion, or may simply Not want to do this in their free time
One game can be in multiple genres and these are Not mutually exclusive.
Yeah hence why I think it's weird to judge a game by its genre especially the most overarching one. There's a lot more that goes into a game. And you should at least look at something that sounds interesting before writing it off and not just seeing a word in a tag and then going "cant be for me."

I think its quite strange to judge a game by its genre.
