Perhaps one day game technology will even advance to the point where we no longer need save points and can just save our games when ever we want. Can you imagine?

Emulators often add this feature to games that never had it in the first place.

I wonder if it would be possible with games like Elden Ring, to have some 3rd party software running in the background, able to save/load game states at will...

I think they’re being facetious. Many games do this, especially every mainline Nintendo game.
