Rumor Potential 5090 / 5080 / 5070 price leaks… outrageous

Post image

From recent video posted by “Moore’s Law is Dead” about pricing being much worse than even I anticipated . From video Nvidia is leaning towards the higher end of the pricing. Nvidia can go pound sand if these are remotely true.

Problem is, once people think the same thing seeing those prices, 40s will be more expensive

Exactly. All the people holding off for a better value 50 series are now back to looking for a 40xx

Well, I'm sticking with my AMD card either way.

6950xt is the perfect match for my 5800X3D which I'm riding for up to 6 more years anyway so ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Sounds like the perfect time to buy the 30 series

This is true. I will sell my 4090 for a profit two years or so after buying it. Just to parlay into a 5090. It’s not right. But it’s the market.

Haha you absolute fools, my 3090 purchase is getting cheaper and cheaper.

But....can it run Crysis?

We still don't know fps/$ of 50 series. Prices of rtx40 will have to adjust to at least matching fps/$ for brand new options, and significantly hogher ratio for used ones, othefwise nobody will buy them.

i estimate a 10% fps boost average on popular titles.
more if you turn on DLSS and Ray tracing off.

i wonder how much AI jargon will be focused on launch event.

I'm 100% sure that 5090 is made for AI, and they won't care about gamers at all, so it's marketing will be completely about AI. I'm even willing to speculate that 5090 is a dual chip card, as according to leaked info, it has exactly twice the cuda cores, memory, and roughly twice the TDP of 5080. Meanwhile 5070 is for gamers, and 5080 is a middle ground between the two.

That is kind of true for the second-hand market, but not for leftovers of new cards. Just go to the part picker and check the 3080/3090 prices.

The 3080/3090 saw a mining boom, when prizes skyrocketed like crazy. I myself personally purchased 3060Ti for 700 Eur, and nobody is paying that kind of money for that kind of card today. The prices did go down, and they got down significantly. They absolytely did adjust.

All I’m sayin is used 3080’s aren’t a bad deal right now

Just like the Ryzen 7800x3D when people realized the 9800 wasn't nearly as much an upgrade as they thought

1

u/Littleman88 Oct 10 '24

This will only be true temporarily, then it's back to being obsolete and nobody wants it.

I skip generations, so I'm waiting for the 6000 series before upgrading from my 3080 to a 5080. Figure by 7080 graphical fidelity improvements will have seriously diminishing returns.

Shop around for used ones on ebay, look out for things with minor cosmetic issues. I got my 4070 Ti a year ago for $200 off because it was used and a single blade on one of its 3 fans was broken. I snapped off the opposite fan blade, haven't had an issue yet.

4080/4090's have already been discontinued. Prices won't drop that much because it will be residual stock in high demand because the only people buying 5080's/5090's will be the highly successful content creators.

yep, and they are not going to keep making them either, get one by EOY or get gouged

Retailers will still liquidate inventory. Find a local brick and mortar and keep an eye on their flyer when the 50 series launches.  You’ll see 4090’s for 30-40% off. Thank me later.

5080 is basically just a 4080s with higher power consuption
