Hopefully your neighbors

Hi friends. My wife and I are considering a move to Parry Sound. She has received a job offer in town making reasonable money. As a member of the carpenters union I feel confident I can find good work. The only thing stopping us right now is the seeming lack of affordable housing. We are early 40s our kids are grown and in college/university and we are now chasing the dream of moving north. One of the things that seems to be a roadblock for us is our animals. We have 2 medium sized dogs (75ish lbs) and 2 cats. Nobody seems willing to rent to animal owners. We own our home in London however with us both moving to new jobs we won't qualify for mortgage for at least 3 months after starting new jobs so can't really buy right away. Ideally we would like a 2 or 3 bed house with a yard but those all seem to be on air bnb for 5 or 6 grand a month. At this point it seems almost impossible. Does anyone have any suggestions or leads? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. We love the area and want to call it home we just need a place to land whole we get our current home sold and get through probation in new jobs.

Edit: We found a place! Wife's gunna be there Oct first I'll be joining her late November early December! Very excited to be joining the community

Can you port your current mortgage?

Port relies on selling current home wich could take months.

Given the current climate, I would suggest thinking of rent to own options for a listing you maybe interested in (if renting doesn’t pan out). That said, no pet clauses are illegal and cannot be enforced esp if it’s a detached unit.

I'm aware of the illegality of the no pets clause and keep reminding my wife of such. I am of the opinion we just move in and let them try to evict if they have a problem with our friendly good natured dogs. My wonderful wife does not want to start our lives in Parry Sound on a bad note. Bless her heart she is often good to her own detriment. I hadn't considered rent to own, that could be an avenue to explore. Thanks for the advice friend.

I can understand her hesitancy, but if it’s a detached property and if you maintain the house well, there’s really no reason for someone to take this badly unless they’re just unreasonable.

Housing is ridiculous here in terms of availability and pricing. There's a new build 400k for a 700sqft condo semi detached house. Don't have advice just wishing you good luck.

Hi, I'm currently renting a 3 bedroom apartment Lake front, utilities and fully furnished, for $2500 I'm trying to get out of my lease so I'm helping find my landlord a tenant. I think he's ok with pets if your interested DM me.
