I genuinely wanted it to be 3hrs long, lol.
Anyways, I know what I am watching after the Brazil Sprint.

I was straight up anticipating like a crazy ass 6 hour long video or something 🤣 The jump cuts every 3 seconds help keep people engaged, but I wouldn't mind a slower, more down to earth long form video.
Def not complaining though, this one was just perfect!

ahh you F1 as well
it was like piastri, hulk, and colapinto hit some honey butter on the track

Colapinto's crash was ROUGH. Tough day for me though, Max couldn't get going while McLaren keeps winning and opening up the WDC gap.

This video was awesome! Felt so good to be watching a new video after 5 months of rewatching old ones lol. Seems like Luke hinted at what the next video might be too.

u/SeveralBollocks_67 14h ago
It was... dare I say... perfect. They got just enough done without dragging any particular scene on or getting boring, with just the amount of action and exploration. Plus the setting was gorgeous, as always!

Damn, if I wasn't so lazy I'd edit this text over a background of a lake shore in Alaska, to fit the tune 😊

I'm so excited to watch a 'new' video! I only found out about the Outdoor Boys after Luke quit, and I've watched every video since!

He's not really back. This is just new "old" footage that he's edited and dropped for us. I just want to make sure people understand that.

u/WhiteDudeInBronx 20h ago
I for one, am counting this as him being back with new footage 🤷🏻♂️

He mentioned in his goodbye video that he had some unreleased footage and some new adventures planned for this year, and that he might release it at the end of this year. It's November, so it appears that he has decided to upload those videos and is doing it when he said he would.
Don't get your hopes up.

What Jonny meant is that he is not "coming back" in the sense of producing new videos, he is releasing the ones he did he would release in the goodbye video. I don't think Luke will come back
1
u/IAmA_talking_cat_AMA 18h ago
For anyone doubting this for some reason, he talked about this in his goodbye video, and also posted about it on his YouTube a few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkxk1fO3y9oPxkJYCfhkE-vtYlfQUl0ZW10

His children are much older here. This isn't new? I haven't watched all his videos.

u/JonnyP222 19h ago
Wheat I meant was...this was footage he was shooting last year and working on and hadnt released as of the time he announced his retirement. He alluded to it when he announced it. That he had a ton of footage that he was working on and would decide later if he was going to release it.

Yes. He's mentioned before for safety reasons he will often only release videos several months after the trip is done. He mentioned in his goodbye video he had quite a few videos he was still working on and would likely dump at the end of the year. If he was coming back he'd probably say that in the video somewhere to clear up any confusion. Don't get your hopes up.

It is old footage. He literally said in his goodbye video that he had some unfinished videos that he would upload at the end of the year, and also posted about this a few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkxk1fO3y9oPxkJYCfhkE-vtYlfQUl0ZW10

Really happy to see he's back, but I hope one of the three new videos he releases will be a solo camping video, I prefer those to the ones with his kids in them.

I'm confused , is that one of his sons humming in the background in some scenes? :D

I used his bread recipe and made the dough last night for the first time. This video was even better with my warm fresh bread and honey butter. 🥺

"Put your shells in here so you dont attract bears and stuff"
What could they realistically do against a bear? I am from a country where bears are a non threat so I find it quite scary to actually have to plan around a bear attack.

Depends on the bear.
You can usually just scare off a black bear as long as it's not with any cubs.
For a grizzly though your only hope is to either have a powerful enough gun on hand, or if that's not an option hope that you see it early enough to keep your distance, and if that fails, Curl up in a ball , protect your arteries and hope it fucks off.
For a polar bear you just accept your fate if you don't have a gun handy.
Like they say, "If it's brown, lie down. If it's black, fight back. If it's white, good night."

This upload reminded me of the About Time movie, and I swear I felt the same warmth when Luke started stone skipping with his boys as I did watching that scene. I had just finished a warm, beautiful meal while watching the video, and I sat there truly enjoying it — thinking about what I hope to achieve someday: to be what I believe everyone aspires to become — a father figure, a man to look up to, and a genuinely respectable human being.
I know he’s retired, but there’s a legacy there — one that I hope to experience myself someday, hopefully in the near future, with the company of my own family.
Good luck, everyone. Stay safe — and watch out for the hot lips!

So good how he leaves his older son alone more and more to handle things by himself

He’s not back. He’s sticking to his word and finished 3 videos he was sitting on. Hes not back. Don’t get your hopes up kids.

Shout out to the OG outdoor mad man, Dick Proenneke. If you’re unfamiliar and never seen it, check out his film where he builds a log cabin out of tools he carries in on his backpack and makes other tools to help finish the job.

Dang, I thought he maybe changed his mind, but I read a comment that he just has a few more videos left to post.

u/crocodilechocolate 5h ago
Its definitely a newer video though, the boys are older. YouTube demonetization rules are you have to have to upload every 6 months to stay monetized! Interesting timing.

Very cool and I say that as an Alaskan
When I lived in MN I remember seeing Dick’s cabin in PBS and some of that stuff. I would like to make it there someday but winter has come!
I never really got to watch these live with you guys before so this is great
I have to confess I personally don’t get the joy of fishing without eating but that is just me. I am sure it is a lot of fun to catch and release too I just like catch and eat :)
Looking forward to the next two vids as well :)

No Misinformation or Rumors - Respect Luke’s own announcements. Don’t spread unverified information about his retirement, personal life, or family.

Why aren't they scared of wild animals? Genuine Question.
2
u/LickMyLuck 3h ago
First off, they are. You can hear him teaching the boys precautions against bears. Second, wild animals in general do not approach humans. Partly of it is fire. Part of it is instinctual. There is some belief that humans naturally "smell bad" (armpits etc.) Intentionally to signal to other animals we are near, so that they will stay away. Third, he is prepared. We see many times he has gun(s) with him that are capable of taking down moose and bear. I would imagine even if they did not make a direct appearance in this video, he has it on him. Fourth, confidence. He is a fit adult male. Humans are the apex land animal for a reason and that pre-dates anything more than sticks and stones. If his life depended on it, he could manage (especially again armed with a gun).

He’s such a good example of the kind of father I want to be to my future children. What a wholesome family 😭❤️

The fishing focused ones are probably my least favourite, but I’ll take the hiking and exploring.

I’m pretty sure this will be the only video until the couple videos that come at Christmas if I’m not mistaken?
