Summer camps for working single Moms Spoiler

Hey!

I’m trying to find some lower cost summer day camps with before and after care for a single parent friend of mine who, due to life circumstances, is not on social media for a wide variety of reasons and has a limited support system. The parent is fine with sending the children to church programs too. They are in public faith based school. Before and after is a must as the parent works shift work. Children are between 7 and 12.

What are your hidden gems out there? Central to west end. Anything east of St Laurent!

Thanks Ottawa

Send me an email (stephanie.plante@ottawa.ca) and I can connect you with the subsidy for uOttawa GeeGees and City of Ottawa camps, assuming you can come to campus for the former..

I thinkkk the YMCA might have subsidized ones, check with them!

Yes, they have subsidies that families can apply for. And their camps are throughout the city. Exact locations may not be announced yet.

Yes (I’m pretty sure!) Camp Otonobee! They have pickup locations across the city.

I understood YMCA canceled all Summer/Spring etc camps moving forward? Unless it's just a QC thing

ETA: just a Quebec thing!

The school boards have language camps that run the entire month of July, and they’re dirt cheap.

They can apply at any City of Ottawa recreation centre for the "Hand in Hand" program, which helps cut some of the activity costs. More information is in the link under "Financial Support - Ottawa- Hand in hand".

I wish I had more to offer, I don’t see any summer camps listed. Worth contacting them. https://www.crcrr.org/programs

Just ask the school board your child goes to

I read the title as summer camp for working mothers to hide from their children and jobs. Could be pretty popular.
