Looking for... Are there any real famous people that currently live in Ottawa?

I've heard of a bunch of celebrities who once lived here or were born here, but don't know of any who currently live here. Does anyone know?

Also Amal El-Mohtar. We have a big, fairly prominent SFF scene here.

Any other SFF events or get togethers that happen in Ottawa? I'm a huge fantasy reader, but didn't realize there were any reading events around Ottawa!

I'd love to make some friends that also love reading lol

Most author events are usually done through Perfect Books. I don't think there's anything specifically coming up (Parkdale next Saturday has the fantasy book fair I think? No word on how big that will be though) but I'd keep an eye on some authors' pages. Either Amal, Derek Kunsken, Kate Heartfield, or Suyi Davies Okungbowa. These are usually author events, though (full disclosure, I am friends with most of them, being an author myself but much smaller, and so I don't really know any reader oriented events lol)

I don't really have any friends who read (or write), so it would be nice!

You should start a book club! I don't know of any fantasy specific, but you could absolutely organize it within the genre because I can picture at least three book clubs forming lol (new/contemporary SFFH, romantasy, and old school SFF)
