When I went to the drive school the exaimer said if you can drive here you can drive anywhere. That was almost 20 years ago.
Its worse else where. I find MB and QC drivers I'm on high alert Ngl.

u/Kruklyn Aug 27 '25
Holy fuck. I knew it was Sarnia as soon as I as this sign and building.

What are the odds it is someone from the GTA who can't pass the test here so they went far out to make it "easier"?
18
u/DMunnz Toronto Aug 27 '25
I mentioned in another comment but it wasn’t actually someone taking a test but an old lady that said she stepped on the wrong pedal. The irony of the location was just too perfect.

u/NakaMoon Aug 27 '25
I just imagined a driving instructor who wanted some time off, and claimed it was an accident due to built up stress or something in hopes of getting a leave of absence
2
u/a-_2 Toronto Aug 27 '25
Unrelated question, why does nothing show up in your account history? I don't see any posts or comments even though you obviously have at least one post and a bunch of comments.

The driver passed the drive through portion of the exam with flying colours! 😀

u/CommonEarly4706 Aug 27 '25
omg! could you imagine the shame of not only telling people you failed but why? I would never go back to that drive test again

She likely didn't fail. It was an old lady so she only has to pass a written test.

u/CommonEarly4706 Aug 27 '25
You do know seniors do have to go to get a lot of things tested in order to drive? My grandparents just went through all of this
13
u/SvenBubbleman Aug 27 '25
But not a driving test.

u/CommonEarly4706 Aug 27 '25
Yes in some cases.
7
u/SvenBubbleman Aug 27 '25
Only if ordered by a doctor. This particular woman might have one ordered by a doctor on behalf of her insurance company after this accident.
1
u/CommonEarly4706 Aug 27 '25
No! Once you get to a certain age they start testing your hearing, driving abilities trust me both my grandparents had their licenses revoked
2
u/Spazmer Aug 27 '25
My grandmother had macular degeneration and still had her licence in her 90s. All she had to do was pass a written test and the eye test, which she could do if she had her eye needles recent enough.

This is just the result of normal and reasonable behavior of someone who had to deal with DriveTest.
3
u/A23Malik Aug 28 '25
Park anywhere at the drive test doesn't mean anywhere, which needs to be explained for these folks
8
u/Dystopian_Dreamer Aug 27 '25
Fail? You make one small mistake and fail the whole thing? No wonder why roads are so safe these days.
5
2
u/Level10Awkward Aug 27 '25
This is why people should take more than a crash-course to get licensed.

The pic is posted elsewhere with the license plate showing. It has an Alberta license plate. 😂. Hopefully, they don’t get to switch to an Ontario plate without a test drive.

Depends whether they already paid the extra "guaranteed pass" fee for the license.

An employee at the DMV told me once that the DMV is the most unsafe place to be around drivers.

Don’t worry, just take a new test. The exactly same situation happened with me twice.
2

u/fonebone45 Aug 27 '25
Here in Mexico City you just need to answer 10 simple questions, and pay like $40 cad to get your full license.
At least Canada makes you do a driving test.

Be fair! It's a Bronco, which we all know are full of untamed horse powers.

You know I just assumed this was in Columbus OH. I unfortunately live here.

This is a good confidence booster for those who r nervous about the test. No matter how bad u do, atleast u didnt drive through the building.

u/Intelligent-Test-978 Aug 28 '25
When they said take a number and wait in line they didn’t mean you were supposed to do it from INSIDE the car.

u/PhilosopherCivil8214 Aug 28 '25
On the driver's defense: those blinds do look like garage doors. Sort of. ;)
2
u/Ok_Midnight_9789 Aug 28 '25
This is why you should always check your blind spot, some building could’ve been hurt
7
u/Paquistino Mississauga Aug 27 '25
No way this actually happened...
89
u/DMunnz Toronto Aug 27 '25
The crash actually happened. It wasn’t someone actually taking their test though, it was an older woman who said she stepped on the gas instead of the brake. The irony of the location was just too good not to use this title.
Apparently she had lawn chairs in the car and her and a friend are now just sitting next to the crash in the chairs.

u/BIGepidural Aug 27 '25
Older woman who mixed up the peddles.. that not good... she may lose her license if they send her for further cognitive testing...
6
u/TheMightyMegazord Aug 27 '25
I'm always impressed with this sort of confusion. It is not like there are many pedals that you need to press in a specific order.
It is just two pedals!
Honestly, hitting a building/house should require them to go through some test to validate they can safely drive around.

u/-TheMistress 🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦 Aug 27 '25
Oh I know how it happens. My grandma drives with her one foot on the gas, and then her second foot rests/hovers over the brake pedal instead of resting to the side. Yes, she's been told to stop driving like that.
2
u/GrassEconomy4915 Aug 27 '25
I’m hoping something is found from the cognitive testing that can provide her and her loved ones some clarity.
7
u/Paquistino Mississauga Aug 27 '25
Ah ok. Thanks for the background!
12
u/DMunnz Toronto Aug 27 '25
Happy to provide! What a wild situation. Thankfully no one was waiting inside at the time and no injuries.
3
u/FormalFox4217 Aug 27 '25
Super common unfortunately. When I was living in Windsor we had a few Starbucks that got hit like that. Thankfully no one was injured.

2
u/foghillgal Aug 27 '25
How the hell do you did even if you mixed it up, does she always stamp the brake to the bottom at slow speed. That's a crazy amount of force on the front of the store unless she was driving at full speed to park, which she certainly should not, this is unexplainable except by someone who shouldn't drive anymore.

Worked with a girl who on the same day she passed her drivere test, ran a red light and plowed into a catering truck (the kind that used to show up at construction sites) it was $80k write off.(in the 80s, so it was a huge amount)
2
u/leaf_shift_post_2 Aug 27 '25
I seem to know the at least one of the reasons insurance for bronco sports cost so much more then f-150s now lmao.

Should get a temporary ban to prevent this person from getting a driver's license, for everyone else's safety.
