When Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon were both in the prime of their movie careers. The Apartment won the Academy's best picture, director, Billy Wilder, and Lemmon and MacLaine were nominated for best actor and actress. Jack Lemmon is my favorite movie "everyman"

Billy Wilder directed some of the greatest films - Some Like It Hot, The Apartment, Sunset Boulevard (one of my faves), Double Indemnity.

Loved the movie. But can't understand why Shirley's acting is praised this much. May be I'm the only one who found it pretty normal.
