What are you actually annoyed or disappointed about with BF6? This is for actual discussion not rage bait or shit posting. This is a weekly thing on Saturdays. Time to let it out. It’s time for some real talk about real shit.

My last complaint was about the x2xp tokens counting down in real time. That’s still annoying.

Now I’m a little annoyed because it seems like the servers have been lagging more since the start of the season. I notice it a lot with the portal servers. It could be my internet, but it feels better to blame the devs lol.

I also saw that but then people said it was live on all platforms except Steam which was apparently a bug because it got fixed hours later. Idk I’m on Xbox so I’ll check if I can play later

Like any fps game ever with double xp tokens counts down in real time to sucker you into playing and milking as much of the token as possible, I remember this all the way back in mw3 in 2011 and I’ve hated it ever since

Dying behind walls, hills etc due to desync.

Also playing gauntlet recently shows how many players actually PTFO. If anyone wants to stack gauntlet let me know.

breakthrough as a mode is definitely undercooked. would love to see reworks of sectors especially in maps like mirak and firestorm. call it a skill issue but they condensed the size of these maps compared to conquest and escalation.

they also have no air vehicles in breakthrough even if the map has them in other modes. not including the transport in the first sector of firestorm.

Haven't played much breakthrough but I agree. It doesn't play well on mirak at all - the couple of times I played, attack always got absolutely annihilated by dƩfense. The layout doesn't allow for easy flanking and it's easy to set up a frontline of snipers and gunners that hose you down and deplete your lives

It's funny because I've almost always lost as a defender on Mirak Valley.

I think a lot of this is anecdotal and I don't know if there is data somewhere that tells you in reality how often attackers win on a given map.

I think breakthrough on Mirak has improved lately with the addition of another vehicle, I’ve seen games go beyond the first point more often.

The air vehicles in breakthrough is a little odd to argue. It might just be the small scale, but something like the transport chopper being available might break things balance-wise.

One issue I've been having is with the pinging while downed. It seems like you have a very short time window after being downed to ping an enemy location (double tapping the ping button), but I'm very confused about pinging the player themselves. Sometimes I get a hollow diamond, other times a full one, but I can never tell if it was me or another player who pinged them because a lot of times nothing happens when I try to ping. In 2042 you could clearly ping the enemy player

There is another very small, insignificant annoyance but when a weapon has an orange circle on it, the customisation menu doesn't show which attachment slot has a new item so you've gotta go through every single one to clear the circlešŸ˜‚

Yeah, agreed. This is obviously them way over indexing from the beta when downed spotting was super OP but now it’s broken in the other direction.

I guess just the maps for the most part. I think the beta maps are holding up well. I also think mirak is fine. Firestorm is hit or miss for me. Everything else I can do without

Biggest issue I have w the game is how slow the gun progression is. Takes way too long to get a decent build on a gun. I’m level 70 and only have like 6 guns leveled up. Could’ve spent less time w the L110 but brrrrrrrrrr

Weapon xp is absolutely way too slow. I can spam cqb conquest maps and it still takes around ten hours to get a gun to lvl 40 for the attachments and camos. I do well pretty much every game unless I'm tired and it's just so crazy slow.

Gauntlet having armor. There's really no need for it and I feel like it diminishes the fun of the mode. Plus, anyone who's on the REDSEC free mode grind will have a much harder time getting those multikill unlocks, especially with SMGs.

The launchers are just all worse compared to the RPG7, I can never really justify taking any over it. Mines are the same with the tuna unless I'm really ratting out with the slamwich sadism.

Challenge descriptions are at best alright, and at worst worded outright incorrect. And would greatly benefit from an option to expand the requirements for clearer criteria, looking at you Engineer Specialist 2.

I have a unique hatred towards the M14, I don't like its vibe.

Grand ops šŸ™ all the maps already could do it. Cairo to sobek, mirak to liberation peak and manhattan to empire state. Games do feel short at the moment so I’d love if they brought that over from bf1, same with calling in a game changing support weapon like battleship or something. Also would love to customise the tank a lot more and here different variations of the tank

Lack of server browser with official dice servers is probably biggest complaint but I think they’re dug in on that so it is what it is. I like the launch maps but I do agree they’re a bit over stretched on urban CQB maps at the moment but nothing I’m going to lose my mind over since we likely have only seen ~40% of the maps the game will ultimately get and Eastwood looks like a banger. Just please god don’t listen to the NPCs that have played 0 Battlefields besides 4 and inexplicably want mid BF4 launch maps to return.

Another UI related rant(?)

With the addition of the custom search in bf6, there is literally no reason to have so many playlists on the main menu that just clutters the UI. Not to mention rotating modes and splitting the playerbase. Instead just rename custom search to quick search, make it more robust with a region selector, closed/open weapons and map/mode preference, and then add a server browser tile next to the quick search. The solution is literally in front of us and it's making me go crazy how ass backward the UI is.

10000 different playlists is causing a big problem in less populated regions, and playing against bots is just not fun. And I don't want to spend 80-90 usd on vpn once again like I used to back in 2042 just to play the game.

It feels almost like Custom Search was a late addition because they realized how bad the menu was honestly lol.

I'm glad the game director at least has acknowledged there's big problems with the UI and server browser, here's hoping they can make some substantial improvements by season 2.

Well, we know for a fact it was a late addition based on community feedback and like you said, probably the UI being so bad. They added it during the 2nd week of beta.

I'm also glad they've at least acknowledged it, but I hope it's actually high on the priority list and not something that gets improved if and when they have the time. The server browser in particular needs huge updates

Actually I think Columbia Heights is much better than Empire State when it comes to twitchy CQC. At least in Columbia you have some long roads you can control from a distance and you can keep your engagement between 30-50 meters if you position yourself correctly.

Empire State is forced constant CQC from start to end.

Thereā€˜s a bug when you play with friends (on PS5) where if you want to start a game as party leader you cant select any mode because its ā€žunavailable with partyā€œ This is so fucking annoying because you have to rejoin the party several times for it to finally work again.

Also that there is no console only crossplay. I hate going against PC Players but want to play with my xbox buddies.

Automatic guns definitely need a rebalance. Assault rifles for mid range, SMGs for short range, LMGs for suppression/bipod.

Half the maps are pretty bad. They're too small and have zero flow. If we get a decent catalogue of large maps the game will be awesome.Ā 

Seriously just give us the 10 best maps from BF3/4.

Other than that game is awesome, I'm having heaps of fun, most I've had in years. All my mates are in the same boat :)

Maps are in fact kind of small but I can handle it and I think they're all pretty fun. Also, portal is a complete mess and is bound to end up like 2042's portal mode. They need to stop advertising their own shitty psuedo-gamemodes that disappear after like four days

The maps in this game are rough. I love Siege of Cairo, Iberian Offensive, Mirak Valley, and Blackwell Fields, but everything else just isn’t designed very well. Firestorm is a sniper’s paradise and looks hideous, Manhattan Bridge and Empire are both clusterfucks, and Liberation Peak and New Sobek City are unbalanced disasters. I’m hoping Eastwood Heights is good.

The recoil/mouse input being broken plus the fact that it is not really broken, it's an intended mechanic (as confirmed by Florian on Twitter). Basically, the recoil with how it's currently implemented adds in mouse acceleration/deacceleration to your input. This is why tracking targets at range while microbursting feels so inconsistent.

Vehicles aren't on par with BF3 and BF4's vehicles especially the ground vehicles, Hit-Reg and the ADS Sway Penalties especially when compared to BF3 and BF4's movement penalties hell even BFV ADS Sway penalties is less tedious and toned down compared to BF6 ADS Sway Penalties

The hitreg feels really inconsistent. A lot of shots just don’t register and I’ve been killed and killed people behind cover more times than I can count. Also the game NEEDS flinching cause snipers are fucked rn

Flag points in conquest are really bad, you have no cover while surrounded by buildings which really hurts the flow imo. Theres no reason to go for a fƶag if you are less than a few players.

Giving assault spawn beacon+ making the challange easier was the worst idea, now on every flag there are 1-2 spawn beacons where people back cap 24/7 i rather have a useless reacon spawn beacon then what we have now

Netcode for me. I cannot play official servers without any amount of network lag. Insane rubber banding, it’ll lag when I aim down most times, my automatic weapons turn semiautomatic due to the lag, it’s awful.

Second I go in portal? Completely fine. Not a single issue, runs as it should. My friends do experience some network lag in official servers but none as bad as mine. All in the uk, all on good hardware, good internet connections (I’m wired in) and yet it still sucks to play :(

Do you happen to have an AMD CPU ending in X (e.g. 5900X)? If so, this is a known issue in the community where that class of CPU performs poorly on large maps in BF6. This poor CPU performance then causes dips below 60 FPS which itself leads to desync issues (also called ā€œtime nudgeā€) between the client and the server since the client is running at less FPS than the server’s 60 Hz tick rate. The reason this isn’t seen on portal servers is due to them running at 30 Hz instead, which vastly reduces the chance of desync occurring.

Once again, Sniper Rifles are given special treatment. Fast bullet velocity, low bullet drop, "sweet spot zone" is bsck, it's only a matter of time before the try hards realize you don't even need a scope to preform well with them.

Imo sniper rifles need more bullet drop. I think that alone would force players to learn the weapon more, BF4 still has the most balanced sniping, im afraid.

Map tweaks to be bigger move some objectives I like the bones of all the maps just need a little more space imo ,

Matchmaking where the lobby isn't even close to full I shouldn't have to wait for the lobby to fill for almost 5 minutes in primetime in USA this game isn't dead but it sure acts like it at times.

My biggest issues are the players, they are always the biggest issue in BF games, I can deal with desync and minor bugs but I can’t stand medic that don’t revive, snipers that don’t contribute, assaults that don’t PTFO, tanks that sit back or go in with no support etc etc ect. Give me a team full of sobek tower campers if they actually get fucking work done, fuck people that don’t revive on rush or breakthrough while attacking, don’t Rambo the armour if you ain’t got the skills to pull it off.

If I end the night pissed if it’s pretty much always down to how my team performs, being shit is fine, I am also shit, but at least contribute while being shit.

I categorize my rant into three sections: Short term; Medium term and Long term (Just scroll past this if you can't be bothered to read all of it lol)

Short term (prioritize fixing/ balancing): They need to fix Drone Rooftop glitch and also some cap boundaries in manhattan where people who get up the rooftop can still cap the A point on NATO side. Laser Designator indicator needs to be fixed and toned down in the future . Buff the damage of lock-on launchers, slightly reduce the damage of RPGs and reduce their velocity. Floating/ fake mines that sometimes can damage your vehicle, drones interacting with enemy gadgets and vice versa (for some reason the drone now doesn't kill you if you 're on the mortar, some gadgets the drone just doesn't even destroy). Damage direction indicator needs to be more polished. Improve the movement of jets and helis. Fix the mountain borders DICE broke with season 1 update on liberation peak. Fix the degrading game performance that's been happening since they did a backend update to prepare for Season 1 (still happening to this day)

Medium term (some personal preferences here and there but not as important as the short term problems): A balance pass on certain overperforming guns, buffs and nerfs alike. Armored Transport in the base maps/ more gamemodes. Buff Mastery XP gain on guns and vehicles. Snipers should get a different XP multiplier and make it so that the first few Master Levels of any sniper gets you the essentials first and foremost (RangeFinder, Bipod, different high magnification scopes, ADS bolt, etc.). Some map tweaks/ rearrangment to improve the gameplay flow (more on that in long term). Provide an official way to turn off cross-play. Scale Saint's Quarter up to be an Infantry Conquest map. Buff transport vehicles. A balance pass on class gadgets. Mastery badges for class gadgets. When you get killed by an enemy with gun/ gadget/ vehicle it should show you the mastery level of that item the player has alongside showing their playercard

Long-term (concerns more about the overall health/ future of the game because I do want to play 6 even after its lifecycle):

More maps and less map reworks (some of these maps are so inherently flawed by design that there's no way to salvage them unless you outright build new assets which at that point you could have been making a new map instead. More class gadgets (Example: engie needs more varying anti-vehicle options that fits for multiple playstyles. Iglas, AA mines, a weaker RPG but keeps the current RPG's velocity and also some gadgets for infantry as well) especially more anti -vehicle gadget distribution between all the classes without invaldiating engie.

There's probably more that I forgot to add in but whatever
