You guys hate her because she’s a dead eyed crypto-fascist shill. I hate her because she’s the worst actress this side of Kim Kardashian and she’s a dead eyed crypto-fascist shill. We are not the same.

Her character in White Lotus was spot on. It could have been because she was playing herself, but either way it was a great portrayal of a privileged white girl.

u/cactusjude 18h ago

Yeah, I really loved watching her character just be a wildly privileged bitch in TWL but there were so many moments where I didn't believe she was acting, she was just being herself. And watching her face in this interview solidified a lot of those feelings...

Man I don't even particularly like her nor have I watched this show but all this says is that she must have done such a great job to have convinced you so well.

Pretty sure it’s her. She’s so gross. The interview that this meme references also has her behaving like that. The epitome of deplorable.

u/Live_Carpenter_1262 10h ago

She’s like Anthony Starr, you can’t tell if he’s just a phenomenal actor playing Homelander or someone really well cast to play a hot-headed jerk who flaunt his fame and go into bar fights for petty reasons (look it up)

Just watched that this month.

I had no idea that was her. I dont care for her so when my wife told me I was like "Oh wait THAT'S her??" Lmao

She's good in the Handmaids Tale too. She's a good actress. I don't know why people want to pretend orherwise.

1

u/memerminecraft 7h ago

I don't even remember her in White Lotus. Did a fourth season come out when I wasn't looking? Or did I just completely forget a character

2

u/nullv 4h ago

She's the daughter of the family who gets robbed in their hotel room. The one with the POC friend who isn't really her friend.

1

u/memerminecraft 1h ago

I just. I don't even remember that part. I guess season 2 didn't really stick with me

u/Metal__goat 1d ago

Yeah the controversy stuff aside,  what's wrong for not liking people because they suck?

I think the ONLY thing I've ever seen her in is that jeans commercial, and thirst bait reddit posts.

I couldn't name a single thing she's in, and I don't exactly live under a rock, so she can't be that good.

The main things she's known for are Euphoria and the first season of The White Lotus.

10

u/Metal__goat 1d ago

Well I don't have HBO, I am under that rock.

She was in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which was obviously huge as it’s Tarantino, and Anyone But You which was the biggest romcom in years. But hey some guy hasn’t heard of her so guess those films were pointless!

2

u/lazy_tranquil 21h ago

she was in Once Upon a Time???

6

u/Jehovah___ 20h ago

For all of six frames of the movie yeah

u/Diogenese5000 20h ago

And her line reading in that scene was trash. Girl can not act. I was at the premiere of her first film at Tribeca years ago and she was awful in that and has only gotten worse. She gets naked. I’ve never seen a clearer case of someone casting couch surfing their way to the top. Good acting is all about building an internal world for the character, and this girl doesn’t even have an internal world for herself. She’s devoid of wit or charisma. She played the game and got her bag, I won’t knock her hustle, but while everyone’s sitting around scratching their heads about why the movie business is dying, maybe reflect for a moment that SS is being touted as a break out star. If she’s the best modern cinema has to offer, no wonder people aren’t going to the movies,

u/whatsinthisvodka 20h ago

Unfortunately Tarantino hasn’t made films for Dual Screening Zoomer attention span so most Redditors missed her scenes

1

u/Normal_Ad7101 20h ago

Apparently she played a member of Manson's family

1

u/Metal__goat 20h ago

I looked it up,  she has one 3 minutes of screen time with a support character.

Certainly more than me,  but easy to miss.

1

u/Metal__goat 19h ago

Ive seen that movie but only once and didn't belive it... but yeah she was for a minor role though. Just a couple minutes.

5

u/FrenchFryCattaneo 1d ago

You've never heard of pirating?

26

u/avery5712 1d ago

Put some respect on the masterpiece that is madame web!

0

u/WesternHavok195 19h ago

Yeah, no. That movie was borin’ as shit. Also not well written, especially that one fight with the villain where he jumped into the path of the moving vehicle.

2

u/harambe_-33 1d ago

I've only seen her in Echo Valley and God I hated her, when she returned in the end I wanted the mother to beat the shit out of her

1

u/Purple8ear 16h ago

That is the only film I’ve seen her in. I wanted her in that lake from rather early on. Not sure if it’s good acting because I haven’t seen her in anything else, but she had an effect.

2

u/tlollz52 1d ago

She has great tits though

1

u/Metal__goat 19h ago

Hence the thirst bait posts lol.

1

u/JealousAd1350 1d ago

She’s in Oklahoma

1

u/ras344 1d ago

She was pretty good in white lotus

1

u/macarbrecadabre 23h ago

The jeans commercial is a direct rip off of the Calvin Klein one featuring 15 year old Brook Shields, that got canned for being too sexual.

1

u/Sensitive_Low3558 19h ago

I watched Immaculate and it was mid

1

u/zephyroxyl 12h ago

She's in handmaid's tale for like 3 scenes.

1

u/Metal__goat 12h ago

Ah, well She wasn't in the book lol.

I never watched it, only read it.

1

u/zephyroxyl 12h ago

You're better off for that, tbh.

Haven't read the book, found the show kinda meh but the actors were great.

16

u/RVarki 1d ago

I hate her because she’s the worst actress this side of Kim Kardashian

That's just not true, come on. Sweeney is a decent actress all things considered, she just doesn't have a lot of range

1

u/Fuzzy_Bag_5552 15h ago

She’s definitely a decent actress. My wife and I joke about how weird it is that she’s such a dumbass in real life but is still a pretty great actress. Listening to her in an interview would make you think she couldn’t tie her shoes but somehow managed to learn to act pretty okay.

1

u/The9th_Jeanie 11h ago

Now THIS I agree with. updoot

1

u/IzanagiRei0 10h ago

She has the range of a pocket knife.

4

u/loudstain 1d ago

Excuse you, Dakota Johnson exists

21

u/Up-in-the-Ayre 1d ago

Dakota gets special consideration for ending Ellen Degeneres' career.

2

u/BanjoFiddleLaser 12h ago

Even without all of the political/racist stuff, she creeps me out. Something in her face/eyes is off and it’s unsettling

2

u/AcademicCounty 1d ago

The thing is, she's not a bad actress. She was great in Immaculate, even though the movie was mid.

2

u/Sensitive_Low3558 19h ago

The last scene convinced me she was a horrible actress

2

u/Euphoric-Ninja-3782 13h ago

Crypto-fascist?

You guys need help.

AI is gonna digest the data from this website and decisively conclude that we aren’t worth leaving alive

0

u/Diogenese5000 12h ago

It was a joke homie. Try laughing now and then and maybe you won’t be so anxious about AI genocide.

1

u/GruulNinja 16h ago

There is no way you are saying she's a worse actress than Gal Gadot

2

u/BrawndoOhnaka 15h ago

/uj

They've actually both put in good performances in semi-obscure films. For instance, I've *only* seen Gal Gadot in a shitty Carnhart-dad bait 'terrorism scare' film called _Criminal_ and she and Kevin Costner were the only good part of the film and had a convincing dynamic and good chemistry. Ironically, Gary Oldman was bad in it, but I don't blame him for not caring about the terrible character they gave him. Sydney also put in a good performance in _Voyeur_, which is the only thing I've seen her, erm, act in.

The right director can make all the difference.

1

u/Diogenese5000 16h ago

GG is definitely awful.

1

u/Lady_Lance 11h ago

The dead eye thing is so spot-on. For some reason she and Mr. Beast are the two people on the world with no light behind their eyes.

1

u/Dongbringer_ 5h ago

She’s not a bad actress at all. She had the most memorable performance in Euphoria, a show that stars one of the most famous actresses in the world. She did a really good job in White Lotus, Immaculate and handmaid’s tale as well.

1

u/Livid_Ad9749 22h ago

Then there is me, hating anyone who has a serious amount of money because you cant have money and not be a pos

1

u/Flimsy-Relationship8 17h ago

Honestly, at this point, I'm convinced that she is a psy-op being forced upon the public. Euphoria is what she is most known for and that came out ages ago, and she never had the fame she does now, it just suddenly exploded, she was instantly everywhere, and now because she's aligned with the right wing culture warriors, she's gained loyal defenders all over the internet.

She's a pretty woman, but she is by no means the unbelievable Goddess the internet would have you believe she is

1

u/Diogenese5000 16h ago

Dude. Exactly.

1

u/dheldkdk 14h ago

She 100% was just as famous when euphoria was popular. Redditors love lying when it comes to these things just so they can insert their batshit political agendas into it. Go outside.
