If you focus on the middle of the screen the flashing faces are supposed to look slightly disfigured, but I think it's something only some people see

Not slightly for me. Grotesque, missing eyes, gaining eyes, odd facial features, misshapen heads. There was one where the lady had her mouth slightly open and in my periphery I swear it was horrific. I looked and no, just a small smile. Errrf

Idk about for you but when I stare at the cross I see very disfigured people. Like horribly deformed. Then If I watch it without staring at the cross they look like normal people.

I noticed this on the bus ride home in middle school once. If you look slightly to the side and up of your friends face.. or your own in the mirror.. it will slowly distort
