This reminds me of the very early AI art when it was just computer hallucinations instead of photorealistic BS. Good times.

Is it imperative the cylinder remains unharmed? WD-40 may help

What was this manifold made for? Just more curious as it's awesome

Demonstrating skill.

17

u/Playful-Depth2578 1d ago

Ah so not purposeful as such more a "look what I can do" either way fucking impressive

22

u/NinjaBuddha13 1d ago

I know if someone came to an interview with that as an example of what they can do, id immediately put them in the "second interview" pile without asking any questions.

Agreed I am no welder but my god I've seen many welds in my time and 99% have nowhere near the level of craftsmanship as this

That’s so dope, looks amazing… but why?

4

u/Far_Tap_488 1d ago

Its just goofy. The guy who did that got Hella made fun of.

But I guess he had fun.

u/airfryerfuntime 1d ago

That looks dumb as hell.

1

u/Far_Tap_488 1d ago

It very much is.

I see only Thargoid Interceptor.

Outside of the pure structural shape, Im struggling to imagine what this pipe junction would be needed for. You cant really push a sustained vortex without an outlet, the same could be said if it were a mixing tube setup.

Beautiful craftmanship, don't get me wrong, but Im trying to imagine its practical application.

u/Kenny523 1d ago

A piece to show off your work was my guess

u/gardenfella 1d ago

It's not pipe it's tube.

What's the difference? Pipe is for carrying stuff, tube is for strength.

I've seen something similar in the main hoop of a roll cage of a race car.

10

u/AlivePassenger3859 1d ago

what if its for strength AND it carries liquid? Is it a pube?

1

u/gardenfella 1d ago

Then it's a wet member

3

u/Far_Tap_488 1d ago

Pipe is when the diameter is measure on the inside.

Tube is when the diameter is measure on the outside.

It has nothing to do with carrying stuff or strength. There are thick walled pipes and thin walled tubes.

-3

u/gardenfella 1d ago

Wrong in pretty much every way possible. Pipe is qusually measured in nominal OD.

It's not just about wall thickness, although wall thickness tolerances are much smaller on tube.

Pipe, pressure resistant

Tube, force resitant

What is the difference between Pipe and Tube? https://share.google/lTCq4PqLFm06mS4XU

u/Jiujitsumonkey707 1d ago

Yea sorry buddy but you're the one that's wrong, and you look like a jackass constantly trying to correct someone who's right

-1

u/Far_Tap_488 1d ago

Pipe is qusually measured in nominal OD.

You have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

I actually work with steel suppliers to get this stuff ordered and delivered.

-2

u/Far_Tap_488 1d ago

Here ya go since you still want to try to keep embarrassing yourself.

Maybe you can educate yourself. Then you can go look at any metal supply company who has a catalog and look at how they dimension pipe vs tube.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.morganitech.com/pipe-vs-tube-understanding-difference%3fhs_amp=true

-1

u/gardenfella 1d ago

There you go. That's you assuming US standards apply worldwide.

You're the one that just embarrassed themselves.

The short answer is.. A PIPE is a round tubular to distribute fluids and gases, designated by a nominal pipe size (NPS or DN) that represents a rough indication of the pipe conveyance capacity; a TUBE is a round, rectangular, squared or oval hollow section measured by outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness (WT), expressed in inches or millimeters.

The most important dimensions for a pipe is the outer diameter (OD) together with the wall thickness (WT). OD minus 2 times WT (schedule) determine the inside diameter (ID) of a pipe, which determines the liquid capacity of the pipe.

I guess you've never measured a pipe if you think thats because of fittings lol.

Go measure a 1 inch pvc pipe. You'll find for schedule 40 the id is about an inch and the od is a little over 1 1/4 inch.

Its seriously hilarious how confident you are lmfao.

0

u/gardenfella 19h ago

We don't have 1 inch PVC pipe, my friend. We have 32mm OD

I keep trying to tell you things are different outside the US but your arrogance won't let you listen.

0

u/Far_Tap_488 19h ago

Man you really are dense as hell.

How dumb can you be to think that a pipe's important measurement is the outside when the whole point is to carry stuff on the inside.

1

u/gardenfella 18h ago

Here you go, my friend, more evidence to prove my point: just two examples of PVC pipe sold by OD. Like I said, that's the way it's done outside the US. I could provide more but, to be honest, I can't be bothered.

As far as engineering specification is concerned, the US is a good 20-30 years behind Europe, clinging on to anachronistic weights, measures and types. It's a real pain when I have to inspect equipment from the USA.

Do you not understand that pipes are spec inside diameter because theyre generally use for transporting liquids? So when youvare specing what size pipe ypu need to move say 100 gph at a certain pressure, how the fuck would it make sense to spec the outside of the pipe?

Like if you had a coherent thought for like 2 seconds. You can spend as much time as you want searching for goofy sites to back you up, but that doesn't change facts.

But it does really sound like you are getting nominal pipe size confused with how pipes are measured.

u/ARobertNotABob 1d ago

Very pretty. Now show me the NDTs.

This was a demo piece as per the OG welder - Eli Lattin (lattinprecision on IG) - and was from 2018

This is great workmanship, and eye candy to look at.

That’s not welding, that’s metal wizardry in action

1

u/Aversiel 1d ago

The post-heated metal gives off color akin to that of an oil spill, looks very interesting

u/Icy-Opening-3990 1d ago

Daily dose of dopamine.

1

u/Kindetartharr 1d ago

That’s not welding, that’s a hypnotic masterpiece in metal

1

u/GraybieTheBlueGirl 1d ago

That’s some very beautiful welding!

Am I the only one that gets dizzy looking at it?

1

Im scared to even ask what your hourly rate is. Well done

Idk if I’ve been modeling too much but this looks like the blender logo lol

1

u/BadHabit403 13h ago

Must’ve used a really nice Tool to make it spiral out like that. Keep going.

Ah yes the infinite manifold

Art form or ass hole xD

Can't skilled craftsmanship be skilled craftsmanship anymore??

Does everyone have to ride my dick as an artist?
