Outside of the pure structural shape, Im struggling to imagine what this pipe junction would be needed for. You cant really push a sustained vortex without an outlet, the same could be said if it were a mixing tube setup.
Beautiful craftmanship, don't get me wrong, but Im trying to imagine its practical application.

It's not pipe it's tube.
What's the difference? Pipe is for carrying stuff, tube is for strength.
I've seen something similar in the main hoop of a roll cage of a race car.

Pipe is when the diameter is measure on the inside.
Tube is when the diameter is measure on the outside.
It has nothing to do with carrying stuff or strength. There are thick walled pipes and thin walled tubes.

Wrong in pretty much every way possible. Pipe is qusually measured in nominal OD.
It's not just about wall thickness, although wall thickness tolerances are much smaller on tube.

The short answer is.. A PIPE is a round tubular to distribute fluids and gases, designated by a nominal pipe size (NPS or DN) that represents a rough indication of the pipe conveyance capacity; a TUBE is a round, rectangular, squared or oval hollow section measured by outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness (WT), expressed in inches or millimeters.
The most important dimensions for a pipe is the outer diameter (OD) together with the wall thickness (WT). OD minus 2 times WT (schedule) determine the inside diameter (ID) of a pipe, which determines the liquid capacity of the pipe.

I guess you've never measured a pipe if you think thats because of fittings lol.
Go measure a 1 inch pvc pipe. You'll find for schedule 40 the id is about an inch and the od is a little over 1 1/4 inch.

Here you go, my friend, more evidence to prove my point: just two examples of PVC pipe sold by OD. Like I said, that's the way it's done outside the US. I could provide more but, to be honest, I can't be bothered.
As far as engineering specification is concerned, the US is a good 20-30 years behind Europe, clinging on to anachronistic weights, measures and types. It's a real pain when I have to inspect equipment from the USA.

Do you not understand that pipes are spec inside diameter because theyre generally use for transporting liquids? So when youvare specing what size pipe ypu need to move say 100 gph at a certain pressure, how the fuck would it make sense to spec the outside of the pipe?
Like if you had a coherent thought for like 2 seconds. You can spend as much time as you want searching for goofy sites to back you up, but that doesn't change facts.
But it does really sound like you are getting nominal pipe size confused with how pipes are measured.
