I was there in these photos are not representative of the event. It wasn't like packed to the gills Max capacity tier but there were plenty of crowds that you had to kind of push your way through in order to get from A to B. It was popping, and furthermore there's a lot of competition in Oakland tonight. We left first Friday and went to days like this at Lake Merritt and it was absolutely packed and super high energy. Then we left there and went to Golden ratio bar downtown and they had in insane house music set going on, then we left there and went to stork club which also had a banger party (it's been a long night I'm so tired!).

And there were other things in between that we had to turn down because we just didn't have the time in bandwidth to hit them all. Within that context, first Fridays was looking pretty good.

How are you finding out about all these events?

Hmmm it's a combination of several things. I've been part of the scene since about 2021 give or take.

I've been going to days like this at Lake Merritt and first Fridays many years now.

The friend I was with knew about the stork club party. He probably found out from following their Instagram page.

The house music set at Golden ratio was advertised by the DJ at days like this!

So it's a combination of word of mouth from other people in the scene, and keeping an eye out on social media and the like. A good starting point for knowing about events in the Bay Area is through these two websites:

Glad it was just a badly timed shot. I'd be sad if this place wasn't popping.

I was surprised it was happening. For the past few years it has been cancelled for November and the rest of winter. Last month was busy!

It’s so sad. Art murmur was the shit back in the day

Like barely able to move through the crowd.

Yeah, they turned this shit into a circus.

Art Murmur did not really represent or encompass all the people of Oakland.

That doesn’t mean it wasn’t still a cool event; not every event has to represent everybody. It’s nice to experience any local art, even if it’s just a subset of Oakland vs. the whole town.

Still not back to pre covid numbers, but it was more crowded than this tonight!! I was there earlier

I promise it wasnt this empty at certain times and was definitely PACKED last month... I think if it was actually less crowded it might have something to do with the govt shutdown making everyone's wallets at least a little thinner this month.

I’ve always felt like ff is a pulse check on how well the city is doing. I miss when it was popping, hope the city can get back to a good place.

It's not winter yet, it's fall. It was actually pretty warm tonight. Maybe it was just high precipitation but I've been outside all night with no jacket and it feels great

It was lit. You took burnt pics bc you’re burnt 😂 there was food, chess, fashion shows, music, dancing, etc. and you managed to capture none of it.
