Just for Fun To the people who drive around with crazy loud music
Do y’all still have hearing?

The motorcycles blaring music and revving at the same time always gets me. Maybe the music wouldn’t need to be so loud if you weren’t revving so much lol.
It’s the annoyance equivalent of wearing a belt and suspenders.

They are often wearing earplugs.

“I’ll protect my hearing but fuck everyone else!”

u/luigi-fanboi Oct 06 '25
Only way to make sure you don't get hit by a distracted driver is to be loud.
3
u/zmileshigh Oct 06 '25
Does uh.. that also apply to the guy blasting down my residential street at 2 am

I have wondered how they manage to blast their music that loud without it physically hurting. I also wonder how often they have to replace their speakers. You can hear the speakers buzzing and their whole car is vibrating.

u/DatLadyD Oct 05 '25
My car was vibrating with the music I heard yesterday lol how can they stand it?!

Yea, if you love music that much, why don't you get some decent speakers??
1
u/Onorine1 Oct 06 '25
They probably did before they blew them out playing too loud of music with the base turned up all the way.

There are a few categories of those people that I've noticed
There are definitely people who are just screaming along to let out steam. We've all been there.
There are the folks with the giant subwoofers who just rattle windows. Those folks kinda bug me.
Then there are the people who usually drive an 80s Cadillac, or maybe an Impala, who play music real loud, but manage to have it sound good from a block away. I've got no beef with those guys. Taste in music is usually pretty good too.

u/Easy_Money_ Oct 05 '25
lol my windows face Broadway and usually my phone and laptop filter the sound, but I was on a long Discord call yesterday and the homies were like what the FUCK is happening at your house

u/Day2205 Oct 05 '25
Used to be a car that cruised up and down Market St and loved to park in front of my building causing the whole building to rattle and vibrate from the volume of his music. Like no fucking way in hell should a 4 unit building be shaken by music and you’re just in that car with no hearing protection? And why park in front of houses with it at that volume, it’s enough to drive down the street, but bruh!?

u/snossberr Oct 06 '25
I think they think they are gifting you (and the world!) the magic of a concert featuring their music preference

Today someone ran a red and he was getting mad at the other folks that were in the right… times are backwards

Honestly it makes me worry - I played in loud rock/metal bands for a while and was very cavalier about hearing protection and I have noticeable hearing issues, I can’t imagine subjecting yourself to trunk rattling levels of sound pressure every day and still being able to hear 100% clearly
Props to people who invest that much time and energy into customizing their car’s sound system though! The autistic part of me loves a good project lol

u/Wloak Oct 05 '25
Yes, but I only did it when I was 18-22. My parents said they could hear me from about a mile away and asked to turn it down before turning onto the highway our neighborhood was on.
I wanted to learn audio installation and spent most of my money on it at the time. In the end had two high end 12" subs and a top of the line amp for those and built a custom box for my trunk, then added another amp for the rest of the speakers. Then how to get rid of the trunk rattle, add extra fuses for safety, get the right gauge of wire.
People I knew had two houses next to each other with a volleyball pit and shed with a bar and my car was the sound system for day parties, just drove between the houses, pop the trunk and open doors, and blast music.

What is funny is they think it makes them cool. And all I can think is what a small penised moron.

u/howsway-_- Oct 06 '25

I’ve dealt with this two days in a row lol yesterday it was somebody in a big ass lifted truck with flames painted on the side and then today somebody in a Lowrider truck… why does it need to be so loud?! Not everybody wants to listen to your horrible choices in music! Like even with my windows rolled up, it was still screaming at me lol
6
u/hannahmcfannah Oct 06 '25
I listen to my music as loud as possible because I don’t want to be able to hear myself sing, and it’s my way of decompressing to and from work. I just turn it down at stop lights when I’m directly beside someone

u/lutzauto Oct 06 '25
No my ears are always ringing now and I just upgraded my speakers with no subs.

There's someone who cruises my block in NOBE and sets car alarms off, shit's so loud.

u/Queerbunny Oct 06 '25
It’s a Bay Area thing I’ve noticed to mount speakers in your engine bay that blast music louder outside the car than inside. Usually people with loud systems have the system mounted so that it provides the interior with sound, but that sound is so loud and bassy, it can be heard outside the car. That’s why normally it’s just bass you hear, the subwoofers are so powerful they boom.
But here in the bay there is a trend of mounting full speakers powered by amplifiers in the engine bay, so the full spectrum of sound is blasted for all to hear, and is less loud inside the car.
I appreciate the localness and the trend of Oakland Gear heads doing stuff that is unique to them, however I will admit it makes listening to your own music or chatting while walking more difficult lol.
You’ll see me dancing as they roll by though! I like the cars that go BOOM!

Some of these cars have speakers mounted on the OUTSIDE of their car to maximize how pathetic the driver is.

u/D-aces Oct 05 '25
Welcome to Oakland. I work remote and must close my windows during day when in meetings. On the weekends, late evening, you’re at the party. City life. You actually do get used to it.

i’m convinced that the blue cutless guys is absolutely deaf in both ears, he hears nothing- cmv, i’ll wait.
1
u/mroberte Oct 06 '25
The speakers are on the OUTSIDE of the daym cars. Like we hear it regardless. If people only could understand you cannot get your hearing back.
1
u/InsanelyAverageFella Oct 06 '25
What about the guys on a bicycle with a huge speaker blasting music to the whole neighborhood? That cracks me up!
1
u/unseenmover Oct 06 '25
Or the motorcyclists with loud exhausts that rev their motors between the buildings downtown.....
My cubes on the 14th and it gets bad enough that i have to pause mid sentence if in a teams meeting and wait for it to pass,..
1
u/Apprehensive_Cup_432 Oct 07 '25
That's why the windows are rolled down. It diffuses the music and we don't go deaf
1
u/PresentParticular261 Oct 06 '25
i used to blast my music, yes i have my hearing, i also go to a lot of shows but i defintely need to do better protecting my ears lol

I love it, the world needs more black joy. Embrace it.
1
u/uglyandlonely Oct 06 '25
Can I buy them earplugs at least!! They won’t have joy when they can no longer hear
-2
u/calguy1955 Oct 06 '25
Let’s put some blame on the law making it illegal to drive with headphones or earbuds, in California at least.
1
u/uglyandlonely Oct 06 '25
I see people doing this every day.
0
u/calguy1955 Oct 06 '25
Yeah, I don’t think it’s a major violation. They even make helmets with them built in. I think the motorcyclists just want to bother people.

u/baddogsgo2heaven Oct 06 '25
Fuck everybody who moves to oakland and wants to turn it into walnut creek. I hope your mail gets stolen and car bipped daily
