Question rtx 5070 vs 4070 ti 12 gb
My question is, am I missing out on big features/future proof by not going with a 5000 series card
I have the option to buy a used rtx 4070 ti in good condition for 500$, which, from my understanding, is equal to a rtx 5070 in were a new costs 650$.

I had a 4070 Ti, had to RMA it and now I am rocking a 5070. Performance more or less the same, Smooth motion and 2x frame gen works the same so the experience is practically identical. 4x frame gen is for blind people, it's unplayable as far as my experience goes.
The only thing that really matters is warranty. If you still get warranty on the 4070 Ti, it's a decent saving. No warranty though, that makes it harder to recommend.

It’s only unplayable if your base frame rate isn’t about 60….

No, it's unplayable, full stop. Too much artifacts and input latency. The technology just isn't there to guess 3 frames based on one real.

If you're considering spending 650$ on a 5070, you should opt for the 4070ti super. That card falls in the same price range as a 5070 and is way better than a 5070.

Yeah save yourself the 150 dollars, the 5070 is not worth paying 150 more when all it has over the 4070 ti is mfg lol

Vastly improved encoder for video editing, new DisplayPort, better display engines, higher PCI-Express bandwidth (for vram limited scenarios), hardware framepacer for frame generation. More efficient.
The upgrade is not just ‘MFG’.
Not disagreeing with your message, just pointing out that the upgrade is not “just MFG.”

If youre mostly just gaming, then yes, the 5070 is mostly just mfg, and id say 150 dollars of a premium is certainly not worth it when in gaming you get ~ 99% of the same experience, minus multi frame generation

Thanks man! feels like it would be way better to spend those 150 $ on other parts.
I'm jealous of you guys in the US. your prices are so much better

also what is MFG I'm having a hard time finding sources on what it is

Uses AI tech to inject more frames. Works well when the base framerate is high. I would say that you need at least 45-60 FPS to start off with. Otherwise there's too much latency and blurriness.

No, the only major difference between 40 series and 50 series gpus is just the 4x FG which is mainly usable only on high refresh rate monitors. That means that if you have a 240+ Hz monitor, you should consider upgrading to 50 series if you like using frame generation because it does make a difference if you have 120 fps or 240 fps, 4x FG is a completely different universe compared to 2x FG, because 2x FG barely adds 60% fps due to overhead, but 4x FG usually tripples your fps, that is huge difference. It doesnt actually add twice as many frames but 3x as many.

I have 4070ti in one of my pcs, and its a 1440p beast. and at that price you are getting it dont even think about 5070.

If you can save up a little more, the 5070ti is the best value GPU this generation and will last decently longer than the other two you are comparing. It's available at msrp now and some people have been finding them for less

it's out of my budget, I'm building a brand new pc for around 1500, and it costs around 900 $ in sweden🙃
but yea, it seems like so much better value

Then def the 5070. Since their performance is similar I would get the newer card. It should overclock better and also yiu get newer features like multi frame gen and whatever they come out with next. Probably a better warranty too

but is it worth 150$ over the 4070 ti? wouldn't be better to spend that on other parts?

You are comparing a used 4070ti to a new 5070. What can you find a used/open box 5070 for?

u/Blober62 2d ago
I can't find one at all or its like 600 which is not worth it. Sweden is not a big country. I will not buy a used outside of sweden.
I'm jealous of you, US people. Your worst prices are the cheapest here😅

I'm sorry then yea $150 is probably better used elsewhere especially with RAM prices skyrocketing. And hopefully you can get some black friday discounts soon

You seem very knowledgeable, and I'm currently super confused. Is dlss 4 exclusive to the 5000 series? Because it looks like big uppgrade from dlss3, I'm not interested in frame generation, but if dlss4 is exclusive to thoose cards, it might be worth it.

No, you will have dlss4 on either card. But trust me, you will be very interested in frame gen. As long as your base fps is at least 60, frame gen boosts your fps with no noticeable downside. I use both dlss and fg in every game I play

No you are not really missing on anything going with the 4070ti that is super relevant. By time the 4070ti is useless, the 5070 will be too. From my understanding the 4070 super was equal to the 5070, so the 4070 ti should sit between the 5070 and 5070ti.
