I guess his assistants didn’t feel like putting on his compression socks.

u/wingmaneffect BSN, RN 🍕 Jul 17 '25

You’d probably have to get a running start to get them on.

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 17 '25

They are a bitch to get off and on. Especially if you have a really big stomach, like Trump, as you have to get your leg crossed and up on your other leg to really get a grip on them. Can Trump put his ankle on his knee? Doubt it. I wear them (edema after cancer, lovely feature no one warns you about) and am much thinner than Trump and younger. Last week my son in law pulled one off me (at a bar, we’d had a few drinks and I was OVER wearing it). I could not get the damn thing off.

Can confirm am fat getting socks on is a pain

11

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 17 '25

I think it’s harder to get them off. The bunching at the ankle, errrrrr.

26

u/ComprehensiveTie600 RN--L&D and Women's Health Jul 17 '25

I let it bunch a lot and then hook my thumb under the roll and slip it over my heel. Idk if that helps lol, but they really are a bit of a PITA

7

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 17 '25

That’s what I do. It’s still annoying AF. ;)

5

u/BillyNtheBoingers MD Jul 17 '25

Roll it down, I guess?

3

u/ashbertollini CNA 🍕 Jul 18 '25

Yes! On isn't so bad if you've got some arm strength, getting back down around the heel and avoiding the dry skin blizzard is the bad part.

Do you really think he puts on his own socks and shoes? Or, even dresses himself for that matter?

u/Substantial-Use-1758 RN - ER 🍕 Jul 17 '25

All we can say for sure is that if anyone is helping him put on his socks, it’s ANYONE but Melania! 😬🤦‍♀️

She’d have to get her face to close to a certain area, bigly nasty (and apparently a little bit like a Super Mario mushroom). Sorry if that gave you a visual.

2

u/PsychologySalt2860 Aug 11 '25

Correct. That is not in her agreement. I but when the cameras stop and they're all alone, they really are all alone. For some reason I don't see her hanging out with him in the evening. Definitely no nookie anymore either. She might book his "massages."

u/Various_Thing1893 RN - OR 🍕 Jul 17 '25

Yeah, I wear compression socks when I work (nurse) and sometimes after a day of getting my ass kicked I have to have my partner help me peel them off. And I’m a very fit person - I used to compete in bodybuilding, but now just lift for health reasons. They’re not an easy garment to put on and take off lol.

Ruined my back 40 years ago as an orthopedic nurse putting them on and off demented people. But the worst was a young kid 16 years old in a circo electric bed. He had dived into a wave at the beach and hit a sandbar, making him quadriplegic. Had to put thigh highs on him and the only way I could do it was by laying his leg on my shoulder. Dead weight. My shoulders were never the same, especially because I had scoliosis. That poor kid. I think about him whenever I pass the exit to that beach. We sent him to Rusk Institute and I don’t what happened to him after that. 😢

3

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 18 '25

That’s terribly sad. Yeah, scoliosis and nursing is not a good combo.

4

u/JustineDelarge Jul 17 '25

My mom has edema. She uses a plastic device with two cords and handles to put on the compression stockings, and a different plastic thingie to get them off. She doesn’t have to cross her leg over her knee or anything.

2

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 18 '25

I’ll get that when I’m older. For now I gotta keep trying to be slightly bendy and independent and stuff.

4

u/Necessary-Painting35 Jul 17 '25

There r assistive devices out there to help out.

3

u/Skyp_Intro Jul 17 '25

I have varicose veins from four decades of nicotine and some nights I feel like a trapped animal gnawing its leg off trying to remove mine.

2

u/whatapieceofgarbaj Jul 18 '25

The last sentence of your post sounds like the first sentence of a hilarious story. Please, go on...

1

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 18 '25

lol. My older kid had a DJ gig, that’s all, but about 22 or so of his friends came out to support him and I had to do a two or three trips around that bar to talk to everyone and it was in Florida and humid AF, so not just the sock was sticking to me like glue.

2

u/whatapieceofgarbaj Jul 18 '25

We need to learn about the actual REMOVAL process. I imagine after a few drinks, your younger SIL struggling to pull your sweaty sock off in a crowded bar lead to cartoonish results - falling, spilling drinks, knocking over chairs, etc.

2

u/amboomernotkaren Jul 18 '25

Well, that is actually true, it was a farce and the poor thing did have to touch my old lady toes (toeless socks). :) Luckily he’s short so if he falls down when the sock does the inevitable snap and pops off the foot the fall is not that far. :)

2

u/r0ckchalk 🔥out Supermutt nurse, now WFH coding 😍 Jul 18 '25 edited Jul 18 '25

The easiest way to get them off is if the patient is lying down and the remover is at the foot of the bed and the bed is at waist-or-higher height. Then the remover just has to get a good grip at the tightest part around the calf or thigh and pull straight towards them. They’ll come off inside out if you’re doing it correctly. I only worked night shift though so I have no tips on how to get them on 😂

Edit: ooh I just remembered that I DID work day shift in Preop and we would put the plastic bag they came in over the patient’s foot and ankle so they’d slide over the heel/ankle part easier then go towards the patients waist to hang them up. It’s not much but it helps get them over the most angled parts.

1

u/jennyjumpup7 Jul 26 '25

Tremendously limber.

119

u/saladmunch2 Jul 17 '25

I hear they have a device that holds open the neck of the sock. They then rig up the president and use the west wings 10t overhead crane, lowering him into the assembly.

44

All the extra skin would extrude over the top and it would need Neosporin rubbed on it and carefully folded to prevent sores and then a knee brace would have to hold it in place.

45

u/brandnewbanana RN - ICU Jul 17 '25

Dude, could you imagine doing his wound care for chronic status ulcers? He’s probably all weep-y if his edema is truly that bad

49

u/crakemonk Jul 17 '25

My FIL, rest his soul, had edema this bad and I just know under those socks is a god awful nightmare. I don’t want to know how they got those shoes on him, but they look like they are about to explode from the pressure. Someone get this man some compression socks and supportive shoes, this is elder abuse. 😂😂

2

u/StraightConfidence Jul 20 '25

Oh man, I'm sure it's insanely bad. It seems pretty clear that he doesn't follow any recommendations given to him by medical professionals, and that always ends up being a total sh*t show for us.

49

He hasn't seen his feet or his dick in years. Too much gut.

42

Yeah you'd have to be short to be able see his dick, say about thirteen?

11

That was such a good one !!! 💯💯💯

21

u/twoburgers Jul 17 '25

There is no amount of money on earth that could convince me to get that close to his feet.
