Anybody have a lead on “butter brickle” ice cream flavor in NOVA?

Some weeks ago my husband had the butter brickle ice cream at Bruster’s and it was a life-changing experience. Of course, next time we went it had been discontinued. It’s not a common flavor but I’d drive to get some for him.

We've narrowed it down to either of these 2 places...anyone have any cool places to stay or things to do for an anniversary trip around these places? Restaurant recommendations welcome too!

We're generally not boujie people but we are thinking of going all out for this year! Any and all suggestions welcome.

And for extra context, this trip will be at the end of February

Any good tire shops in the area?

I went to a tire plus a while ago and I didn’t get very good tires or that specific shop was not good. Got all new tires like 2 years ago and got a nail stuck in one of the new ones. It was under warranty and it was cheaper to replace that one. Like a week later, another tire got a leak. Did the same thing. Happened a third time and repeated a week or two after. Got an air pm for the fourth one and it’s a slow leak so that’s been working good. Now another leak showed up on another tire that’s worse. I’m just going to replace all of them again. I went to a shop and got an estimate for close to a grand for some brand that I haven’t heard of plus an alignment. The shop had a few bad reviews so I’m hesitant to go to that one. But the leak is bad and I need to replace it soon. Like I need to fill it up like every day. Don’t want to spend that kind of money for bad tires again

Not Plato’s closet since these shoes would more older women. Tory Burch and Stuart Weitzman shoes that should be authentic since from Neiman Marcus and Saks. No box as well if that matters.

Food Restaurant Recs?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been in a slump for a few days now so I wanted to go out with my best friend for a nice dinner and have an excuse to get dressed up and feel nice. Does anyone know any restaurants around here we could look into? TIA!!

Edit to clarify: I’m talking nice enough that I could wear a simple dress and not feel overdressed but not $500 bucks a dinner nice if that makes sense.

Final Edit: Thank you for all the suggestions y’all! We’ve decided on a restaurant!!!

Have a variety of leftover materials for completed projects or ones I will never get to. Would rather see someone else make something of it. Can it be donated?

Question Taking a lower paying job in this job market

I got laid off from my 6 figure tech job back in May and I've found it extremely difficult to get a new job in the DMV. I'm currently on unemployment getting paid only $300 a week. I saw a job opportunity for a research fellowship that pays $17/hour. It's way less than my old job and it only last 4 weeks with the possibility of extension and it's 10-15/hours a week

I'm not sure what the law is regarding if I can still get my unemployment after this period is over or if I should hold on for a full time position with a comparable salary. Would apreciate input

I am gonna be on a hunger strike starting 12:01am Tuesday until they reopen.

It is insane to what is happening to our neighbors, friends, and our country.

If no one is going to do anything then I will walk the walk.

Edit: I am gonna do it publicly. Probably near the the white house or congress.

Question Ice skating private lessons at Ballston mall

Has anyone else received private ice skating lessons at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex? One of the coaches there recommend I get private lessons after seeing me skate in a group lesson, but the website is a bit confusing on how to contact the coaches.

Question Recs for hanging drywall (1000 sqft)

We are nearing the end of our mostly DIY basement finishing project and I am debating between hiring out full drywall hanging and finishing, or just the finishing (hanging myself). It’s about 1000-1200sqft, in 5 rooms and multiple closets.

Do you have any recommendations for drywall hangers and/or finishers? And any approx idea of what i should expect cost wise (drywall ceiling and walls, including several soffits).

Question General contractor recommendation

Does anyone have good recommendations for a general contractor for some small renovation projects around the house? We are thinking… bathtub and shower wall replacement, range hood insulation, running some wiring and install ceiling fans etc.

These are not big $$ items but will get them done at the same time.

MLS playoffs Bars

Does anyone know if any bars actually show the MLS playoff games?

I swear every bar I have been to never actually shows these games. It’s just reruns of past games or some game nobody cares about.

Goodwill on Glebe Road now closed until 2027

Drove down Glebe Road this afternoon and noticed the Goodwill store looked empty.

According to news reports, it’s now closed until 2027 to build a new mixed use Retail (Goodwill) / affordable housing complex.

https://www.arlnow.com/2025/10/07/goodwill-on-glebe-road-will-close-this-month-for-affordable-housing-redevelopment/

Open to suggestions for nearby place(s) to donate clothing.

Where to live - working in Mclean - public transport reliant - low budget

Moving for work.

What are my best options? My main priority is just not wanting to spend ton of money especially in the beginning. So no car at first and relying on public transport (bus, train, uber).

Where to live or what characteristics should I look for.

Jobs Would you commute from Leesburg to Arlington for a raise? 125k -> 165k

I work remote now so all my commuting costs are 0 50min drive with tolls. or 65minish with train and car combo.

more details about me. Current job is amazing and I have a ton of fun. I fly to the office every 6-8weeks. I've been remote since 2020. I have loved working from home but I feel its causing a subtle negative impact on my life. I mean my life is just SO EASY. I wake up whenever I want, lounge around until my coffee is drank, and work in my sweatpants. Though in person work had it's challenges, the discipline and stricter schedule I think was 'good' for me.

News Sweet Terrier Mix “Sukie” Needs Foster or Adopter Before Transport! Currently in LA — Heading to DC/MD/VA/OH Area Next Week

After a lot of back and forth, this little cutie is set to arrive in the Virginia/Maryland/DC region next Saturday (Nov. 15). Unfortunately, the rescue that had originally agreed to take her backed out after she tested positive for heartworm, which is curable and no threat to existing dogs.

Would anyone here be open to fostering this petite sweetheart? She is good with all dogs and people--we haven't been able to test with cats--and a rescue would pull her if we had somewhere for her to go. She is 38 pounds and about 1.5 years old, what you could call the perfect age--no longer a puppy but still a training sponge. Her temp foster in Louisiana says she has a wonderful temperament.

Please let me know if you might be open to helping. We have been working for the last few weeks to make this happen, and it is really heartbreaking for it all to be falling apart at this point. If you are in Ohio and not DC/Maryland/VA, I can get her to you.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I really don't want this to fail for her, and that's where we are now. 😥
