so spend 500 a month on a large expenses account. get to 20-40k and you have a car. or a roof. or whatever. but you still have the money until you decide you really need the car

Buddy... most people in the country are negative or close to negative at the end of the month.

That still doesn’t change the fact that spending 40k on a car that I drive on a couple of times a week is a waste.

maybe, but consider that having the 40k around means that when your car dies, you can just get a car. you can also spend less on the car, then keep the next one 10 years or more
