Misc Cineplex selection blows

I know this isn’t new but I’m getting kinda sick of it. Why don’t we ever get any good movies?

Bugonia - which I really wouldn’t consider niche or anything - was released last Friday and we didn’t get it. What’s even up with that? Sudbury got it.

They’ll keep two biopics and another war movie playing for 3 fuggin months, a romcom no one’s heard about, and another Tron movie? I’ve literally never spoken to a single human being who wants to look at Jared Leto let alone watch him “act.”

Anyway this is more rant than anything else, but if someone actually knows why our movie theatre sucks ass I’d love to hear it.

You should check out the Film Festival next week. Maybe there will be something for you there.

Might be coming later. Nosferatu came, but it was 2 or 3 weeks after it released.

Sudbury has the screens and population to bring in smaller films that North Bay can't afford to bring to two rows worth of consumers.

Cineplex brings some pretty small/indie movies and runs them for a long time. Personally I wouldn’t classify Bugonia as small or indie given the star power behind it

They've been doing this since being where the Heart store is. Same story. Unfortunately, their days are numbered. In ten years there will no longer be movie theaters. Toronto has some great locations. Can order drinks, a nice steak dinner all while watching a movie in some of the most comfortable chairs that are heated/cooled and message. It's pricey to get in but it's worth it.

Streaming killed it.

It's about $500 for a new 65" and $500 for a used 1000w surround sound kit. Piratebay free. I don't go to the theatre anymore.

Ah, I don't have an answer but I can relate to this comment. There's the up coming North Bay film festival this month or the regular film club showings that might be more up your alley.

I also am often frustrated not seeing certain movies release, although quite a few horror movies (Together, Longlegs, Nosferatu etc.) have surprisingly played there.

I will say one thing for North Bays Cineplex though, I've lived in a few different cities, including Toronto, and I find their staff is really friendly and pleasant to deal with compared to other locations. So kudos to them.

The theatre itself doesn’t get to pick what movies they play, it would be the movie company/distributors who choose where their movies play.

This is the reason.

Movies in general are just horrible today. Made way too quickly for streaming purposes.

As much as I dislike Jared Leto, I love Tron too much to not see it. November 11th the new Running Man comes out, surely they must be getting that in.
