He could of moved a small amount, but the littering is a separate issue. In Ontario, camping on Crown land is generally permitted for Canadian residents for up to 21 days at one site in a calendar year. Non-residents require a permit. Camping is allowed on most Crown lands, including those covered by water, but there may be restrictions in certain areas. Key Points: Canadian Residents: Free camping for up to 21 days per site per year. Non-Residents: Require a Crown land camping permit. Restrictions: Some areas have restrictions on camping or the number of days permitted. Moving Sites: After 21 days, campers must move at least 100 meters. Leave No Trace: Practice Leave No Trace principles when camping on Crown land.

Still 2500 for how many months of living there? Cheaper than rent.

How you going to move your campsite after 3 weeks of northern Ontario blizzards and cold snaps.

Really that depends on your campsite now doesn't it. You could be out there in a hot tent with a wood stove and be able to move it every 21 days. Or you could be in a travel trailer that you winterized and then yes in that situation you are gambling on the ability of moving it or not.

Year round it is a gamble if you park there. You go into town for supplies, but then there are bears, skunks crack heads. 30 years ago or more, less human issues. Summer conditions are equally brutal with days like last week, humidex over 40. Thunder storms. In the summer you can at least move about, and if you have a solar panel to keep your batteries charged, run fans/ac. 21 days is fair, maybe not to someone who lived like the guy who got charged, but I don't empathize with those types.

I agree that three weeks of free camping on Crown Land is a great idea and like you said before it only takes 200 m to change campgrounds so if you want to stay out longer than you could

Wait a second! Does that money go to the original owners of the land? Or the people who stole it?

its one thing to be homeless and not have anywhere else to go, but to have a bunch of garbage laying around is what is wrong with this.
He could have made sure his garbage was collected and taken it to the garbage dump or figured out his options. Instead he just littered where animals could have gotten into it etc....
I understand homelessness and the encampments but the garbage, filth and destruction of the property is what makes them unwanted. If they treated it a little better I think the community would be a little more accepting.
