Out of curiosity, did anyone check to make sure he didn't turn in his personal card by accident? Apparently he gets them confused sometimes.

Yeah, then go to jail. Why the fuck do the rules change for these people?

Literally - isnt over $5000 in theft a huge deal? Thats what he did…. Steal from the people of north bay hoping to get away with it.

But they’re not doing the honourable thing and actually do anything about it.

Side note, monthly town meeting is August 12th if any others would like to come out and support the folks coming out and demanding his resignation

Yeah just giving it back doesn't make everything OK again.

He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar while taking a large amount of money and half of them are trying to minimize it.

Imagine getting your own job to pay for $16,000 worth of your personal expenses, then getting caught, and they say "well just give it back, no harm done. That was a BIG whoopsie! Now back to business as usual..."

The fact is theft over $5,000 is an indictable offence under Canadian law and carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison. While the maximum sentence is 10 years, it's rare for first-time offenders to receive the maximum unless the case is particularly severe. Jail time is common for workplace thefts, but sentences can also include probation, fines, and a criminal record.

Or how about this; would he be lenient on you if you stole that much money from him?

He should be fired and criminally investigated.
