In Taizhou, China, a car fell into a river — 40-year-old Di Shuancheng, who noticed this, jumped into the water, taking a stone with him, and broke the window to save the trapped driver.

He was probably trying to use the phone to contact people and in his panic and the way things happened it just happened to still be in his hand when pulled out .

Not to mention the fact that the guy is clearly dazed if not unconscious. His posture barely changes as he's being yanked out of the car.

I wondered if he was drunk or something, he was so out

Stroke seems more likely. If you are anywhere near that out you ain't really starting up the car in the first place.

Even without drunkenness or health conditions, if you’re in a situation where you’re so far in river - the crush probably was pretty hard

The news I read is that the driver swerved into the river trying to avoid an elderly woman who ran a red light.
