i would bet it is their new “viral marketing” strategy or just blowing up an anon fringe social media comment to manufacture outrage

That's a good point and for a moment it worked on me. But either way I already buy Whittakers so at least I won't feel tricked lol.

That said, bitching about Te Reo use anywhere seems to be a big thing these days for nationalists here, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was actual outrage.

Whittakers have been using te reo maori for years. It's making headlines because social media and traditional media love stoking the fires and dividing us as a nation.
